Summary

A mission failed... A civilization on the edge of collapse... A dangerous alliance to save it...

Colonel Mitchell "Ares" Williams has never been one to accept failure. While the outcome on Liberty is a crushing setback to his and the Riggers' chances of salvaging the war, there's no time to waste on regret. After all, the mission wasn't a total loss, delivering an unexpected asset in the wake of their defeat - Liun Tio, aka the Knife, a notorious warlord and enemy of the Alliance whose deep-seated mistrust of artificial intelligence and control over what may be the largest free fleet in the galaxy have made him the most important man alive.

If humanity is going to have a chance to survive the Tetron onslaught, Ares and the Knife will need to find a way to work together. But can the two learn to trust one another enough to bring the power of their joint forces to bear against a common enemy? Or will their fragile alliance crumble beneath the weight of personal motives and divergent goals?

As Mitchell and the Riggers will soon discover, the knife's edge cuts both ways.

I liked it, despite the flaws

I'm still curious about what happens next and I will be listening as I get this included in my audible subscription, however the invincible enemy and dire situation is getting a little bit unrealistic and it makes it hard for me to care.

The characters in the book are dumb too. They were not suspicious of a little girl beating up and winning against a space marine who specialises in hand to hand combat might not be a little human girl.

The narrator has a good voice that I enjoy listening to, but has little variety. It makes it hard to differentiate who's saying what. It doesn't help that later on two characters are present with very similar sounding names.

Despite all this criticism, I'm still interested in the vulnerability of the adversary and how the protagonist will overcome them and I am eager to find out the conclusion to the story.

Great sci-fi fabulous story

I so enjoyed this third book in the series as it brings the story to a conclusion. Warfare whether real or fiction results in such a waste of life and this came across strongly. Character's we come to know, die. This to be expected and lends to realism. The endless struggles against impossible odds is quite exhausting but compelling listening. Great twists and turns. Fantastically portrayed characters.

3rd part builds the plot further

this being the third book in the series, it carries on the saga nicely "if not at times at a pace that is frustrating".
This book tends to focus in a few areas and for th length of the book i personally would have liked some more progression in the story as repeated statements pop up alot and it feels like time wasted.
The narrator throughout is ok... but puts minimum effort into different characters which can be disappointing.

It doesn't get better.

If I hear the euphemism Frig one more time I'll go nuts. Just swear for gods sake.

Wow Wow Wow Amazing Amazing

Honestly this is a great series. just finished this third book and the fourth I already downloaded. I am not a very emotional person but the end left me with tears in my eyes and that for me shows that the writer and the narrator both are magicians.

I know that probably non of them will read my comment but know please that I greatly appreciate and thank you for creating this audiobook. as well as thank you to all involved parties.

Needless to say I am going to listen to the fourth book now.
