I characters are so believable you become attached to them - I absolutely loved the Island Swimmer but is equally as brilliant.
Highly recommend- please write a third!

I had read the Island Swimmer and thoroughly enjoyed it so when this came out in audible I downloaded it immediately . It is a follow up novel to The Island Swimmer which follows the main characters in new dramas plus an interloper (no spoilers !). It could be read in isolation but I am pleased I read the previous one first. I really enjoyed this and its many twists and turns. After visiting Orkney myself a couple of times and indeed mother coming from Sanday it was easy to picture the various places and scenes Lorraine describes so vividly and my imagination was taking me there. I truly loved it so much and felt such an affinity with Freya in her soul if not her life and as such found part of it a hard read (but thats a good thing I feel !). I DO hope Lorraine writes more for Orkney with these characters - so much more to explore like the Solicitor turning an a hotel into a house and the animal sanctuary and hey more on Sanday would never me re-miss (there is a reason Peter Maxwell Davies found love on Orkney and lived on Sanday and many other artists and composers such as Errollyn Wallen make Orkney their home)

A must read for all Orkney lovers
