Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Ignored. Overlooked. But they're about to prove everyone wrong...

Janet Pimm is used to being invisible. 70 something, with her beloved allotment for company, she simply doesn't need anyone else.

But when the local council threaten to close the allotments, Janet will do anything she can to try to save them - even enlisting the help of her irritatingly upbeat and interfering neighbour, Bev.

As the two women set off on a journey together, Janet begins to realise that perhaps she isn't so happy to blend into the background after all. And that maybe there's more to Bev than she first thought. As they fight to save the place Janet loves most, both women find their voice again and no one can silence them now...

A story of friendship, community spirit and the importance of connection.

The way friendship grew between unlikely characters

Totally relatable and as a woman who went through ‘the change’ feeling like she was going bonkers could really relate to Bev’s journey.

beautiful and fierce.

A wonderfully real, beautifully written and honestly read, deep viserol representation of what it is to be a woman.

Fabulous portrayal of strong women

I loved this book, it's so unusual to find stories about women that aren't centred on family children or love.

Plant knowledge 😃

Loved the story. Very unusual. The plant knowledge and descriptions wee lovely. Scottish accent was terrible but the character was comical.

Excellent narration, exquisite prose

The author is a true wordsmith, such command of language, quite beautiful. The narrator is outstanding, as you’d expect from such an accomplished actor. I was reminded throughout of ‘Miss Benson’s Beetle’. Story is uplifting and well written with characters you grow to love and admire. A great read.

A really great listen

Loved the book. And the characters. Paris’ sense of humour comes across through her characters. All were drawn very well, especially Janet and Bev. Brilliant title - is there going to be more of The Invisible Women’s Club books?!

Fabulous

This was such an enjoyable story to listen to.
A wonderful heartwarming story with an fascinating main character.
Please do read it.
On to Helen’s other book.
Particular comment on the narrator. 99% of audiobooks are read really well but this was absolutely brilliant. When I was looking at the book I saw there had been no reviews so hesitated . Decided to listen to the sample and was drawn in immediately by the narrator. She inspired me to buy the book, so pleased I did.
