Hannah Shah is an Imam's daughter. She lived the life of a devout Muslim in a family of Pakistani Muslims in England, but behind the front door, she was a caged butterfly.

For many years, her father abused her in the cellar of their home. At sixteen, she discovered a plan to send her to Pakistan for an arranged marriage, and she gathered the courage to run away. Relentlessly hunted by her angry father and brothers, who were intent on executing an "honor" killing, she moved from house to house in perpetual fear to escape them. Over time, she converted to Christianity and was able to live and marry as she wished.

Hannah found the courage to live her life free from shame, free from religious intolerance, and free from the abuse that haunted her childhood. This is a remarkable true story of how a young girl escaped a life of torture . . . a story you won't forget.

I was almost put off purchasing this book due to the previous reviews stating only half the book is available, I can confirm that June 2017 the full book is contained in this purchase. It was a word of mouth recommendation otherwise I wouldn't have purchased. Enlightening true story of a British Muslim girl's escape from a life of abuse and conversation to Christianity in her teens. Thank you for writing this.

Powerful content. Loved the book however being of Indian descent, I absolutely hated that the narration was done by someone who could necessarily pronounce the Arabic and Urdu words correctly. I would most certainly have preferred to listen to a British woman of Pakistani origin. Very disappointing. If it wasn't for the excellent account of Hannah Shah's life, I would have deleted the book simply because of the accent of the narrator.

This got a full rating because the author has told us her story in amazing detail. I only hope the author continues to thrive in her new life. Don't want to say to much and give anything away, but the journey that this author goes through to get the life she is entitled to, also takes us the listener on the journey with her.
Anger, sadness, and happiness are just some of the feelings I suspect you will experience from this book. There are some distressing parts though, just to give you the heads up.

Written in school boy English and narrated by the wrong type of person. This is by far the worst book I have ever listened too.

Bad narration
