I am hooked and can't wait to follow Sir William Gold throughout this series.

For perhaps 80-90% of this audiobook I had no idea where the story was going or what the central character was doing in a cast of 100s. Perhaps it was simply the terrific narration by Saul but I was still thoroughly engaged and really enjoyed this. Not sure I’ll dive into the next book in the series but it’s a definite maybe!

Great listen for medieval history fans. I absolutely loved the narrator. Also a nice first person view of some of the events during the Hundred Years War. And chivalry.

Give this a chance. The first 30 minutes I was under the opinion that I would have to refund this book but once it got into its stride it was truly amazing.

I love historical fiction but haven’t come across too many set in a first person perspective such as this or with such a wonderfully flawed character who is truly relatable. I really enjoyed it and the narrator was excellent.

An excellent story which spans a wide range of topics and themes.
