Pretty good story, let down by reading.

Didn't like the main female reader, very annoying when doing the child's voice. No idea why a male reader was only used for the epilogue. Ending seemed a bit unclear.

Just ok

I was hoping the story would grow in intrigue and suspense but I found it quite boring throughout, slow for 2/3s and then some twists thrown in at the end.

The narrator - penny rawlins - is good on the whole, but I wish she wouldn't shriek when she is doing the child's voice. This is an audiobook so will be listened to on earphones or in the car maybe, and her voice was so shrill in parts, it became ear splitting!

Story great, narration terrible

Where does The Ice Twins rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The storyline was good and very intense and different. Several shocking moments and I liked how I didn't know what was true and what wasn't.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The main narrator was semi ok but the second narrator was terrible and I didn't understand why they would use two female narrators to play the same people because they sounded different when reading the same character. Very weird. Terrible Scottish accents and one of them made the child sound totally different to the other.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't want to spoil it but I wouldn't say it is a moving book, more thrilling.

Any additional comments?

The narration really did spoil this book. I think if I had read it it would have been a lot better. I would steer clear of these narrators again if I noticed them on a book for Audible. Still I couldn't stop listening and that was the story that kept me gripped.

A chilling and wonderful story

the primary narrator brought this story to life. I will listen to her again.

gripping story, I was hooked by the end of chapter one.

different people will interpret this story differently, it could be a very exciting book for a book club .

spooky, atmospheric and addictive

loved every creepy minute. the narrator's were excellent, really drawing you in. i felt like I was living on that wee Scottish island. I could feel the cold winds and the storm. The grief felt by each family member was so different and each had their own repercussions entwined with each other. I didnt want it to end. A sad, haunting read, perdectly executed. will buy more from this author and from the narrator's too.

Great story but various female voices off putting

Very good book.

Storyline twists which is great.

The two different female narrators are off putting, especially the one doing the male voices. It would have been better with two male and two female actors I think.

Not a bad story...

Would you listen to The Ice Twins again? Why?

No, I wouldn't listen again, simply because of the character Sarah. She really annoyed me!

What did you like best about this story?

I like the intrigue. There were several twists that were not obviously coming and I like that - it kept me on my toes.

What three words best describe the narrators’s performance?

There were 3 narrators. Penny Rawlins, Sandra Duncan & Angus King.
WHY Angus King was bought in to narrate the final chapter is beyond me... It had been done by Sandra Duncan perfectly well for the previous 11 and a half hours! I didn't get that.
Penny Rawlins child voice was a little "squealy" and could be a little annoying at times, but overall the narration was fine.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The child/children.... no spoilers, but she/they are just down right creepy!!

Not a bad book overall. I would happily read other books by this author.
Sarah, the mother, started to annoy me about 9 hours in. Her "shall I, shant I" thing was totally frustrating and added some padding to the book that didn't really need to be there. i did find that there was extra padding that lead nowhere, like the child psychologist line. She could have easily just googled it, as she does later - otherwise, it was good.

Join the nightmare

While Sarah wrestles with the devastating loss of one of her twin daughters, the reader loses track of who to trust. The grim landscape takes on a life of its own and reality and guilt roil on together chillingly. Well read and gripping

Very Good

I liked the story very much. It held me all the way through. I liked the blurring of the the girls. The suspense of why Angus was so angry was very good, but I also felt he loved her. Sarah knew she was missing something, but not what.
