it was tolerable until I got to the part where he said parents who spare the rod, spoil the child. He then went on to use this as justification for spanking. I couldnt quite figure how rod was translated into spanking. .... because I can think of many other things the rod could have symbolised but anyhows, i feel i have many more tools in my parenting basket than hitting.

I have no desire to spank any of my 5 kids. I dont care to hear a professed man of God speak anything else if his advice is to tell me to hit a child.
