Summary

An enchanting story, masterfully told, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune is about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place - and realizing that family could be yours.

He expected nothing. But they gave him everything....

Linus Baker leads a quiet life. At 40, he has a tiny house with a devious cat and his beloved records for company. And at the Department in Charge of Magical Youth, he’s spent many dull years monitoring their orphanages.

Then one day, Linus is summoned by Extremely Upper Management and given a highly classified assignment. He must travel to an orphanage where six dangerous children reside, including the Antichrist. There, Linus must somehow determine if they could bring on the end of days. But their guardian, charming and enigmatic Arthur Parnassus, will do anything to protect his wards. As Arthur and Linus grow ever closer, Linus must choose between duty and his dreams.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune is an uplifting, heart-warming fantasy tale that’s become a New York Times, USA Today and Washington Post best seller.

Unexpectedly captivating.
The storyline is somewhat predictable and simple, but still captivating and truly enjoyable.

makes you care and not overwhelmed

This book was really nice! The main character is an iconic tired middleaged man that just wants happiness for everyone. every side character gets their moment and you start to care for every single one. Not much action really happens but you are just there for the journey. The conversations about prejudice are SO GOOD and really makes you think.
The narrator works well, some minor voices I would have changed but he does what he is supposed to better then some other narrators

Absolutely wonderful

This book is the equivalent of being curled up in an armchair with a blanket and a cup of cocoa with little marshmallows in it, the fireplace going and a storm blowing outside. Wonderfully warm and just so so satisfying. Very highly recommended when you want a heartwarming and funny read!

The most amazing book

I absolutely loved it. The whole story was perfect. A must read for sure. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. It was performed so well and made me cry and laugh out loud in one sentence. Don't hesitate, read this book!
