About this listen

An utterly heartwarming love story that will make you laugh and cry, fans of The Flatshare, The Hating Game and movies like The Holiday will fall head over heels for The House Swap.

When Cassie and James find each other on a home swap website, it feels meant to be. City hotshot James needs a bolthole after a relationship goes sour, and Cassie needs to leave the comfort of her little island to research her new book. Soon, James is living in Cassie’s cute but ramshackle beachside cottage, and Cassie’s living in James’ London apartment. It’s the perfect solution. Except James didn’t imagine he’d be sharing his home with 11 chickens and three alpacas. And Cassie is less than impressed when James’ ex-girlfriend turns up at his door, demanding to know where he’s gone. The more Cassie and James talk, the more the tension between them mounts. But as the insults fly so do the sparks, and when the time finally comes to swap back, Cassie and James find they aren’t quite ready to give each other up.

Unfortunately the female narrator spoiled it for me.
Her stacatto style was so off putting and I wouldnt lusten to other books if she narrated.
The male narrator's voice was great, so I decided to stick with the book as the story was interesting.

Predictable romance

I really liked the story, the characters and settings of these books but the narration by McNeill is very stilted and almost juddery, almost as is there is a full stop after every word. I do love her accent however and the tone of her voice.

Enjoyable story, slightly stilted narration.

What is with the lady narrator? Could she not read properly or was it the problem with trying to have a Scottish accent that made her pause after every word. It was painful to listen to. Story was good and male narrator was ok but lady definitely spoiled it.

Really enjoyed the story & the male narrator, but how I kept on listening to the female narrator I do not know. It was so ‘staccato’ no flow really awful. Shame. Free so can’t complain that I lost money.

Will they won’t they love story

Loved the characters, they jumped off the page: the independent Cassie and workaholic James. Everything was great, except the female narration. She spoke like there was a full stop after every word.

Her accent was great, but diction was awful.

An excellent, if predictable story.
