About this listen

So pacy and addictive. Just brilliant!’ Claire Douglas, author of The Couple at No.9

The House Hunt is a heart-pounding, claustrophobic thriller from C. M. Ewan, acclaimed author of The Interview, A Window Breaks and the half-a-million-copy bestseller Safe House.

Your estate agent calls.

She’s running late and needs you to show a man around your home.

You let him in and begin the tour.

But something about him feels wrong . . .

You ask him to leave and he refuses.

Then he tells you something about you. Something inconceivable.

And then you realize. . .

He doesn't want your house. He wants YOU.

Critic reviews

The tension mounts with every chapter in this edge-of-the-seat, tense and twisty thriller. Don't miss it! (B. A. Paris, author of The Therapist)
What a cleverly plotted and unputdownable thriller. The House Hunt is tense from the very first page with a gasp-out-loud moment that I never guessed. So pacy and addictive. Just brilliant! (Claire Douglas, author of The Couple at No 9)
Nobody does heart-thumping, dry-mouth, claustrophobic thrillers like C. M. Ewan. The House Hunt is exceptional, with a glorious WTF moment (Sharon Bolton, author of The Pact)
Unbearably tense, effortlessly plotted and packed with twists, Chris Ewan is the master of the cat-and-mouse thriller. . . (Tim Weaver, author of No One Home)
Tense, taut, and terrifying. The House Hunt takes an everyday, knife-edge dilemma and turns it into the stuff of nightmares. Truly impossible to put down (Chris Whitaker, author of We Begin at the End)
Read this in one unplanned whirlwind binge. The perfect one sitting read. A propulsive, tightly plotted, minimalist treat (Catherine Steadman, author of The Family Game)
You can almost feel the walls closing in on you as you race through The House Hunt! It’s intense and claustrophobic, a darkly creepy thriller that will have you looking over your shoulder long after finishing it (Gilly Macmillan, author of The Long Weekend)
With relentless pace, Chris Ewan turns an ordinary, everyday situation into a terrifying nightmare, as the story becomes a desperate one of survival against the odds. Prepare yourself for a sleepless night! (Jane Shemilt, author of The Patient)
Be prepared to put everything else on hold until you've finished The House Hunt, because once it grips you it doesn't let go. C. M. Ewan is one of the very best thriller writers I know (Jane Casey, author of The Close)

It was an ok book. Nothing exciting and the characters were incredibly boring. The story wasn't great and not believable - all very ok ish!

It was OK!

Very good narration (the high point for me). Fairly good story, although it began to get a little far fetched in the second half and to be honest the graphic injury detail was getting a bit tedious too…requiring some effort to finish the book. I was hoping the end would redeem itself, but unfortunately it didn’t.

Good storyline

Well what can I say. I’ve read two of CM Ewan’s other books and bought this one simply on spec from having thoroughly enjoyed them.

Very suspenseful, great story and a plot with many twists and turns. If you think you guess the villain in chapter 1 then think again. Or maybe not.

A great conclusion and some great performances from the voice actors. Al I’ll say is if you are a bit of nervous disposition don’t read (listen) to this on your own or just before sleeping late at night.

Looking forward to the next one

A great read very hard to put down
