Summary

'I’m your husband, Chloe. We’re a partnership now and we do what’s best for us as a couple. Staying here is going to be the best option.’ He picked up his drink and took a sip. ‘It’s not open for discussion. We’re not going home.'

Chloe had the dream wedding. Dan is her perfect man. They haven’t known each other for long, but as she walked down the aisle and saw him standing by the altar, tears glistening in his eyes, she knew this was forever. Later, as they relax on a beautiful island, settling in to their new married life together, they congratulate themselves on their lovely wedding day, and Dan jokes that he’d like them to stay there forever. But as the honeymoon goes on, he becomes increasingly adamant. They shouldn’t leave. In fact, he won’t let her....

An utterly gripping psychological thriller.

Lukewarm mystery of a wimpy woman - not for me

I love a good setting for a thriller - luxurious 5 star resort - tropical sunshine - palms and pools and honeymoons also add exra allure. These are the reasons I picked this book despite some of the reviews and indeed the not so appealing sample.
Good news the narrator Alex Tregear is much better generally than the sample though her granny voice was annoying.
I tried many times to get into this but returning as too much about caring for the elderly, unnecessary guilt and unpleasant siblings. Plus very far fetched.
Much like the protagonist I did not get what I signed up for, though if you are not expecting a whirlwind romance in a gorgeous honeymoon location with thrills and chills a plenty then this could be for you, but more of a domestic homegrown gentle story than an edge of the seat suspense ride.

Far fetched

I was shouting at the silly whiny woman throughout this book. Find it hard to believe anyone would be so weak and dependant. I didn't like any of the characters in this book and could not relate to any of it.

What a honeymoon!

I enjoyed this book and the narration was good.I
I did get a bit irritated by the main character dropping off to sleep so often, frequently postponing things that would probably keep the average person wide awake with panic!
I felt she was a bit too quick to see bad things coming, but also a bit too quick to forgive! But who knows what any of us would do in the same circumstances?
Nice twist to the ending too. On the next Rona Halsall book now xXx

Terrible

The main character is so utterly weak and pathetic that I just wanted to give her a good shake. All these things happen and yet she still whines on about how much she loves her husband. I actually ended up skipping several chapters because she was making me so frustrated. I won't be reading any more by this author and will be returning this book.

The narrator however was very good and the best thing about the book.

Not for me

Codswallop, balderdash and gobbledygook. Save your money. Painfully repetitive and slow, I was glad when it was finally over.

Any negative reviews may didn't listen to the end

Half way through the book I was thinking this is totally far fetched and silly but I kept on and the plot kept on thickening and in the end I was more and more gripped. Its worth wile not go ing up and seeing this one through. My review went from what woukd have been three starts at beat half way through to five stars by the time it was finished. I'll try more from this author. Lesson learned from this one is don't judge a book if you've not seen it through to the absolute finish without skipping.

OK, just ok

An ok story, not entirely believable, not gripping - but interesting enough to keep you listening - just.
Narration - ok.

Improbable premise... But

If you can get past that... A very unlikely premise, the narration is very good and the writing is good too. I will say I was not bored not at all.
I did have trouble as it went on that someone would go that far for the reason they did... But I kept on because honestly it's a nail biter. I recommend it just for the interesting locale and good narration and writing.

Unbelievable. Unrealistic. Annoying

This book only held my attention because I couldn’t believe how stupid the main character was and I wanted to see how her dumb actions paid off.

The author said she tried to have situations that everyone can relate to, which is absurd. Nothing about this book is relatable at all!

I will say it had some twists but I could see most of them coming early on.

Loved it!

This book kept me interested through the whole thing. Usually I listen while I’m driving and my mind seems to wonder, but this book kept me going.

Stale, flat, meh....

Story is only fair and it dragged on way too long. The narrator was awesome! The twists are not super exciting and are basically lame. The middle of the book drags on way to long only to get to a mediocre ending at best.

Boring. Stupid. Long.

This book was just awesome. I only kept listening so I could see if the woman was actually as dumb as I initially thought and I wasn’t disappointed in that respect. Don’t waste your time.

Facepalm

I rolled my eyes so many times and so hard during this book that I think I sprained them.

The main character was such a dithering, spineless, idiotic creature that I actually screamed in frustration. I kept listening because I wanted to see what the twist was, and because I’d spent a credit. When it came, meh. It wasn’t a big shocking turn of events.

The writing was repetitive and circular, hammering the same points over and over. It probably could have been at least 3 hours shorter if not for that. Several characters also just kind of disappeared by the end, though it’s possible I just zoned out and missed their departure. Or I couldn’t hear over my yelling at the characters.....

The narrator was lovely. Her portrayal of the aforementioned ditherer did wear a bit thin though, with its constant, breathy “I’m such a poor lil’ damsel in distress” delivery.

Don’t waste a credit.

Would make a great movie!

I really enjoyed this book. It would make a great movie. This is the first book I've listened to by Rona Halsall but it won't be the last. The narrator was fantastic, too. I highly recommend it.
