About this listen

Narrated by Ava Erickson, Tim Paige, and Aiden Snow in DUET narration!

I've been faithful long enough. I never claimed to be a good man, but I've always done what was expected of me. Find a nice girl. Get married. Have children. That was my duty as a good Christian man. And everything was going as planned when I met Briar. Beautiful. Charismatic. Sexy. But marriage is hard, and after seven years, I feel like I'm failing. Then, a figure from my past enters the picture.

Dean Sheridan is cocky and charming. When this twenty-six-year-old needs a place to stay, I should turn him away, especially after I notice the spark between him and my wife. But I don't. When I pressure him about his relationship with Briar, he does the last thing I expect. He dares me. He thinks he can take what's mine. And if it's a challenge he wants, its a challenge he'll get.

What started as a game becomes so much more. Between them. Between us. This isn't how normal couples behave. The games we're playing are dangerous. And the roles we're playing are far more. But God help me, I can't seem to stop. What we're doing is wrong, but it feels so right, and before long, I don't recognize the good husband I used to be.

Sara Cate blew me away with the with “The Anti-Hero”, the first book in the “Goode Brothers” series, and I was not sure how she was going to top that, but she did and then some, penning another exceptional novel, one that is mesmerizing and nothing else mattered except what was going to happen next. Caleb and Briar Goode’s marriage has been lacking and with Briar’s quest for getting pregnant has taken the love out of their lovemaking, making it more of a chore. Caleb is not sure what to do to bring the love back in to their marriage. Dean Sheridan work’s in Sage’s club, growing up it was always him and his dad, but he was friends with Isaac Goode and at his house a lot, until he was not welcome anymore. When his home burned down, Adam suggested Caleb rent the room over his garage to him. Caleb was not sure he would want someone who works at the club around his daughter Abby, but reluctantly agrees after Briar says yes. Dean is not a fan of Caleb and thoughts of vengeance come to mind when he thinks of what happened in the past, but something entirely else develops from that angst. I loved the complexity of these characters and all the layers to the story. The writing, plot and world building are incredible, as are the character growth and development. Ms. Cate created something very special with these three, and it was great to watch their relationship grow, individually and as a trouple. I also enjoyed the flashbacks to the past to when Caleb and Briar first met and the same for Dean, to show what he held against Caleb. There is never a dull moment in this book and it has the perfect balance of drama, heart and heat, and you can feel how much heart Sara Cate put into this story as the emotions pour off the pages and straight into your own heart. Thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Ava Erickson, Tim Paige, and Aiden Snow were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Each one grasped every aspect of their character’s personality, capturing their every emotion, too, and made you feel them all. Their voices and performances complimented each other’s, and they set the perfect tone for the story. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Honestly, listening to the audiobook of the Goode brothers has been something! The amount of times this had me stood stock still as I was shocked, rendered speechless, blushing, and giggling, and Briar, Caleb and Dean didn’t come to disappoint!

Their journey was so intriguing to watch unfold. Again, like with the first book, there was cheating… honestly, I think the more I read about it, I’m not overly mad about. I’m no way condoning it, but can see why it happened between Caleb and Briar.

Dean’s relationship with Abby was also really sweet to see. His relationship with dad, too, omg that had me in tears. I can tell that Sal was really at peace, when Briar told him that Dean won’t be alone.

Listen, Sara knows how to write some serious spice and let me tell you, I almost didn’t fucking survive it omgg, the first time Caleb and Dean were intimate in Caleb’s office, the four chapters of back to back spice, and ohmyfuckinggod, Caleb waving Dean’s underwear in his dad’s face and saying that Dean sucked his dick in his office— I DIED LMAOO 😂😂😂😂

I almost was in tears, again, at Caleb reuniting with Isaac, too. My heart, the bridge is slowly being rebuilt, and I can’t wait to see more of that in Luke and Isaac’s books, too. Honestly, this series is going to stay with me, I can just tell! I’m so excited to start The Heart Breaker next!

Another phenomenal audiobook by the queen of spice

Who doesn't love a good MMF book, but when it's based in Texas, it makes the forbidden more sweeter!

Sara did a fantastic job casting all 3 narrators. Ava is sweet and was perfect for Briar, Tim has that low seductive tone perfect for dean's cheekiness when it comes to narrating spicy scenes between them all, and then you bring in Aiden's deep growl of a voice for the Man of the family Caleb Goode the pairing of all 3 was a perfect combo.

This story was sweet, seductive and forbidden as hell, but Sara always makes it work.

Fantastic Audiobook!
