the narrator is personaly involved and loves his students, so that we follow him on this marvellous journey. however I wish he could re-record the whole course without the many err, err that marr his elocution.

Nothing else like it

As the title suggests, this course spans the entire history of Christian spirituality from its roots in Judaism through the 21th Century. I have listened to several Learn25 titles by Professor Ciorra. He has a remarkable ability to compare spirituality traditions with deep knowledge and faith while demonstrating their direct applicability to the Christian life today. If you are like me, you know a fair amount about one or two spiritual traditions, but Professor Ciorra demonstrates how Christianity contains many profoundly powerful traditions. Ciorra confidently discusses the teachers of the desert fathers, Augustine, medieval mystics, Francis, Loyola, and modern thinkers. His focus is mainly Catholic, but I found Ciorra's approach ecumenical.
