About this listen

A LOOK BACK AT ONE OF ROY BALLARD’S EARLIEST CASES.

Kendyl Jordan is a beautiful woman who drives an eye-catching classic car—until the car goes missing, possibly with something of great value hidden inside it. Can Roy Ballard help her find it? Despite Ballard’s budding reputation, Kendyl learns he’s not even a private investigator, he’s a legal videographer with very little experience. Still, he seems to have a knack for the job, and it doesn’t take him long to ID a couple of dangerous suspects. That’s when the case takes more twists and turns than a winding Texas Hill Country road.

I enjoyed this book but it seemed very strange not to have Mia around. That's because this might be book 9 in the series but we go actually go back in time and follow Roy as he is only just setting out on only his second case. Don't worry Roy hasn't changed much in the intervening years, he still manages to annoy the bad guys and come out on top using his witty banter, determination not to give up, luck and dare I say it skill. He just on his own. The case takes lots of twists and what starts out as simply tracking down a stolen car quickly escalates to something a lot more dangerous. I enjoyed the not so polished Roy. Look forward to the next book.

After solving his first case, Roy is recommended to a new client. Kendyl has had her late father's classic car stolen and she wants it back. The car was stolen so quickly, Roy believes the thief had a key, which leads him to the dead man best friend. But why would he take the car? And more importantly can Roy find the proof as to who has it now? The problem is when Roy starts asking questions somebody starts taking pot shots at him and the dead man storage unit is broken into, making the simple case of finding a car look a lot more complicated. Can Roy help his new client or is he the one needing help?
I like the narrator. He delivers the one lines and banter with such great timing I have no idea why he doesn't crack himself up.

Loved the narration of Johnny Peppers

Roy has just finished his first case, when a young woman comes to him asking for help tracking down her stolen classic Z-car.
Soon Roy realizes there’s more going on than meets the eye. It looks like someone doesn’t want him looking into this case. He now finds himself dealing with keeping himself alive and stop his life getting more complicated.
This book has humour, drama and action.

Can’t stand the main character he’s far too sleazy hiding
behind e humorous and creepy personality. I don’t know many women who would find him amusing for the long term without a sense of perception or intuition or when to back off .

Irritating main character. Personality totally absurd.
