Like Polaroids framing the years of a troubadour and family man afflicted with an excess of self-awareness, these are stories without any clear good guys or bad guys. Instead, in each of these vignettes you will find dysfunctional humans trying to do their best and bouncing off each other in the process.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Summary
The Try Guys deliver their first book - an inspirational self-improvement guide that teaches you that the path to success is littered with humiliating detours, embarrassing mistakes and unexpected failures.
To be our best selves, we must become secure in our insecurities. In The Hidden Power of F*cking Up, The Try Guys - Keith, Ned, Zach and Eugene - reveal their philosophy of trying: how to fully embrace fear, foolishness and embarrassment in an effort to understand how we all get paralyzed by a fear of failure. They'll share how four shy, nerdy kids have dealt with their most poignant life struggles by attacking them head-on and reveal their - ahem - sure-fail strategies for achieving success.
But they're not just here to talk; they're actually going to put their advice to work. To demonstrate their unique self-improvement formula, they'll each personally confront their deepest insecurities. A die-hard meat lover goes vegan for the first time. A straitlaced father transforms into a fashionista. A perpetually single sidekick becomes the romantic lead. A child of divorce finally grows more intimate with his family. Through their insightful, emotional journeys and surprising, hilarious anecdotes, they'll help you overcome your own self-doubt to become the best, most f*cked up version of yourself you can be!

Good but only if you’re a fan!
I’m a big Try Guys fan but this wasn’t really a self help book, more just joining the four guys on their own journeys of growth. Definitely entertaining but not hugely insightful to anyone who isn’t a fan. Some of them were better at narration than others - Eugene’s voice is very smooth (isn’t that guy just amazing at literally everything?) and on the other end of the spectrum Zach has this annoying habit of starting and stopping in the middle of his sentences multiple times that made it a real struggle to listen to. Overall I enjoyed it but didn’t learn as much as I thought I would about the hidden power of fucking up.

Try Guys for Self Improvement...Hmmm
More Try Guys is ALWAYS great!! And that's exactly what you get, more behind the scenes knowledge and information on the men but does this really help you to improve YOURSELF?. I don't really think so. I downloaded this on the free trial and in all honesty, I am glad that I didn't pay for it. It really is fun and I did find myself invested in the men's journey on whichever area they were focusing on at the time but I really don't think it's helped me. I don't really know how it could other than Eugine's family improvements as the other Try Guys give him a list, so you could do that list yourself on your family. Other than that I didn't feel enlightened about taking on new things or trying to improve myself.
Also by the time I listened to this Ned had already made a Youtube video on clothes which is basically exactly the same as what he writes. It wouldn't surprise me if more content like this comes from the men causing cross overs that means you already know what happens.
I really did love all their stories and by no way is it a waste of time or not a good listen for free. But personally, I think it's a super-specific podcast project and doesn't lend itself to actually helping YOU. As long as that's not what you're after and let's be honest most people arent, MORE TRY GUYS MORE TRY GUYS, then this is great. If it has helped you then that's a double...no triple...wait...quadruple whammy.

It was a good book, not a great book but a really good one. I loved some of the big take aways that really inspired me and the health section was really helpful. Amazing!
Signed up to audible just to read this book, and it was super cool! It was really grounding to hear that people you count on to make you laugh when your life is messed up have had so many of the same feelings and experiences you have. Being in your 30s as well sometimes makes you feel jaded and anhedonic **life** but this book first reminded me that there’s always more to try, it’s only ourselves that limit what there is left of life. Also, as a parent it just made me tear up listening to how much you appreciate your parents’ support and sacrifices. Really touching book, not corny at all *cue most self help books* funny and soul-enlightening. Feed me more!!!

Big fan of the book and the group
Surprisingly emotional stories and incredibly well written and read. Only drawback was that there were some strange voice inflections with some of the reading that was not the best to listen to, but they were minor parts and didn't distract from the stories. Excellent listen!
