Summary

From internationally best-selling author Karen Swan comes The Hidden Beach, an addictive story of heartbreak, loyalty and hope, set in the historic city of Stockholm and along the beautiful archipelagos of the Swedish coast.

In the oldest part of Stockholm, Bell Everhurst is working as a nanny for an affluent family. Hanna and Max Von Greyerz are parents to seven year-old Linus and five-year old twins Ellinor and Tilde, and Bell has been with the family for more than two years.

One early spring morning, as she’s rushing out to take the children to school, she answers the phone - and everything changes. A woman from a clinic she’s never heard of asks her to pass on the message that Hanna’s husband is awake.

Bell is confused. She clearly just saw Max walking out of the house a few minutes earlier, but the woman mentioned Hanna by name....

When she gets hold of her employer, the truth is revealed: Hanna’s first husband fell into a coma seven years earlier, following an accident. But now he’s awake. And life is going to change for them all.

Excellent

I never normally write reviews I just give a star score but this is a real stand out for me both in terms of plot and narration. I’ve listened to several of Karen’s books and am working my way through them all, she is like a chameleon moving from one country and culture another with what seems like endless local knowledge. Very impressive and lots of interesting twists.

So so...

Okay - not particularly interesting. Characters are a bit two dimensional. Plot is predictable. Okay to listen to cleaning & ironing !

Excellent

I believe I’ve read all of her novels. I know I have enjoyed them all. Very contemporary, descriptive and even though we can guess the ending, the twists and turns to get there keep you interested.

Brilliant!

Another amazing book by Karen Swan!! Although it was a bit of a slow burn, as the story progressed I became more and more captivated by it to the point that I truly couldn’t put the book down! As always, I was all consumed by the love story, the emotions of it and Karen’s description of the tensions and build up within the relationship. It was truly excellent. Karen is one of my favourite authors and I have loved all of her books!

A good story.

good story with a slightly lifeless performance the reader. Good accents and personification of all the minor characters but the main characters voice is flat and a little downbeat. Probably the perfect voice for another role.

Predictable but listenable

Enjoyable story with very good narration even if the end was predictable from chapter one.
