Summary

When Western medicine had failed them, these 16 people turned to the magical, mysterious plant medicine Ayahuasca...

And their lives changed forever. Could it do the same for you?

In The Healing Power of Ayahuasca, author Marc McLean tells how the Amazonian medicine saved him at the lowest point of his life. Ayahuasca gifted a level of emotional and psychological healing he’d never have achieved in a lifetime of therapy.

Those profound experiences inspired Marc to interview people from all over the world whose lives have been completely transformed after drinking Ayahuasca.

In this collection of incredible true stories, you’ll hear about an American woman who overcame bulimia and the depression that had haunted her from the age of 11.

A South African woman addicted to heroin for four years cured overnight.

An elderly Dutchman aged 85 releasing childhood trauma from the Second World War.

In this audiobook:

  • You’ll learn about the amazing healing power of Ayahuasca for emotional, psychological, and even physical issues.
  • You’ll be inspired that you too can overcome your darkest days with the help of Ayahuasca, just like the people in this book who are now living healthier, happier lives.
  • You’ll be given hope that you can become well again, even if doctors, therapists, or all other avenues of treatment have let you down in the past.

This is not one person’s life story that you probably won’t relate to, or a dramatised version of events at Ayahuasca retreats filled with colour and lacking substance.

Instead, 16 people share how they healed a multitude of illnesses and issues through Ayahuasca, including PTSD, depression, sexual abuse trauma, eating disorders, crippling fear, chronic health problems, and more.

These people openly share how they overcame the toughest times in their lives, their deep inward journeys with Ayahuasca, and how they finally discovered who they really are.

Want to learn all about their incredible stories, and find the inspiration for your own healing and self discovery? Order your copy of the audiobook today.

Certainly insightful

Very interesting content. The narrator can of course help to make or even possibly break the experience. The narrator for this one was fine as long as he straight read the material. Unfortunately, every time accounts from those interviewed were presented in direct speech he puts on a different voice and a different one for each person. This was sometimes ok but sometimes it was comical to the point of being a little crap perhaps. This idiosyncracy doesn't come through on the sample of the book and had it done, I may well not have purchased it. Fortunately it didn't overly "harm" proceedings but if it had been much longer than the (little over) 5-hour listen it might have made a bigger dent in the experience.
But back to the content: it focuses mainly on the before and after experiences of the individuals which provides more insight than the myriad of uploaded testimonials online - which are often interesting in any case.
Despite the issue with the narration, it was easy to listen to for long periods and rounds up with helpful information regarding how to go about finding retreats, how to judge their credibility and what to avoid.

Interesting and Informative!

I found the stories presented in the book were well-balanced - individuals recall the uncomfortable feelings, practical arrangements as well as the pleasant and positive aspects of their ayahuasca experience. The book is well written- I listened to this book in one sitting. Would recommend , particularly to those interested in alternative to modern medicine or those looking for practical information on how to safely access ayahuasca. Rebecca McKeown

Narrator is terrible....

A couple interesting stories but the narrator trying to mimic numerous characters was truly a huge distraction.

A book of hope.

I've experienced Ayahuasca several times and can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. There is hope to heal with these gifts from Mother Nature and this audiobook shows you that.

Worth a listen.

I liked most of the stories - BUT a couple of them sounded a bit over-dramatic.

Heartfelt stories.

I've read/listened to several books on ayahuasca and other psychedelic substances now. What I loved most about this one is that it tells a wide range of real-life stories that show the true power of ayahuasca.

A fascinating introduction to Ayahuasca

I had never heard of this plant or people who drink it.
What caught my eye was the title, The Healing power . . ."

I found the book to be a fascinating introduction to something completely new. Something which sounds almost to good to be true but the author does a very good job of pointing out the risks and counter indications of this powerful plant (I previously worked for a company which produced natural supplements and I was often surprised at how casual people were about the fact that these plants ARE drugs in their natural form) and how to find the safest environment to experience Ayahuasca.

I find myself still somewhat skeptical about the effects of Ayahuasca. I do not believe in past lives or reincarnation although I do strongly believe in an existence before we were born and a continuation of existence after death. I do believe in the life we are too hard on ourselves and others and being forgiving where appropriate can be one of the best medicines. This book has certainly peaked my interest on the subject and I will be doing more research and investigation . . . living in the USA, I cannot try it without significant travel. If it could help me find relief from my physical pains it would certainly be worth the time and expense.
