Summary

After agreeing to house-sit for a mysterious homeowner, a struggling musician starts hearing voices in the middle of the day and having nightmares so frightening that he screams himself awake. As he goes about the conspicuous tasks he's being paid generously for, he begins to suspect he may not be alone in the house, and that there are plans in store for him more terrifying than he could possibly imagine.

I really enjoyed this book

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a quick short listen, but done in such a way that it grabs your from the beginning. The only issue really was that it was a female narrating a male part, however that said, Kate Marcin did not do a bad job. At first I was trying to figure out who was who.

A musician takes a job house sitting and gets quite a pay cheque for it. All is fine the first day, but then after that, things get strange.. I did enjoy the twists of this book, and some parts are disturbing, but over all, I like it.

Super fun, quick listen!

The Hatred by C.A.Gleason is a really entertaining and well written short story. Sometimes short stories can fall short when the author tries to cram too much into a short period, or they end up leaving out crucial details that keep the story from really feeling complete. This is totally NOT the case with The Hatred. Marcus is looking to earn some extra money and he takes a job as a house sitter. The owner of the house is more than meets the eye, as Marcus soon finds out. I don't want to say more because the story is short and I don't want to give anything away.

Kate Marcin did an excellent job narrating this story. Why did I only give it four stars then? Well, it had absolutely nothing to do with Ms. Marcin's narration. The whole kind of revolves around Marcus and this thoughts and voice and I really felt that it should have been a man narrating the story. In the beginning when I started listening and Marcus and Piper were together, I honestly for the first bit thought that the main character was a female and her girlfriend's name was Piper. Anyways, Ms. Marcin has a great voice for narration and I would definitely listen to more performances by her. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

A short suspenseful thriller

I wasn't sure what to expect when I received this book. When I started listening to it, I couldn't stop. The author starts leading you down this road of hope for the character, but then BOOM out of nowhere the story twists. I was caught completely off guard and thinking to myself "did that shit just happen!!??" The story ends leaving the listener in hopes that there is more to come in the future.

Good

I wasn’t thrilled with the narration of this book. It got better as the book went on. The story itself was pretty good and worth a listen. Nothing too gory or scary.

Weekend House-sitter Wanted

When music gigs aren't making ends meet, a young rocker takes a job as a house sitter. It looks like an easy way to make some quick cash, but he couldn't be more wrong in this classic horror story.
This shirt story is a perfect Halloween mood setter, but I don't recommend it for before bed reading.

Demonic

I did not enjoy this book at all. First because it was a mans story told by a women and frankly it lacked that masculine touch it needed to make it really grab a reader. Or in this case a listener. Also, a little too demonic for my taste. Thought I can see it might have appeal for others. Would be a good camp fire story.
