Overall a brilliant story

Brilliant story, I really like DI Ruth Hunter, I have to be honest though, I wasnt keen on the narration. The accents and voice changes grated slightly, Id have preferred to have heard the whole book in one authentic voice/accent. I also loved the intricate facets of true life in the story, private lives of the characters running alongside the main storyline. Ruth and Nick work well together. Looking forward to the next book.

Reader audition required

Second audio book

the story was ok but very cliched. It's my second audio book the first being the prequel to this one. I hated the narration. The terrible accents and making the women sound like whimps. I don't think I'll be bothering again with audio books

Disappointed

So very disappointed with this book
The reader was poor, regional accents indescribable. The Welsh place names, as a resident of North Wales left lots to be desired and caused real confusion, particularly Rhyl, if your setting a story in a area get it right. Would be very reluctant to try another book read by this person
The story line was fragmented and confusing I needed to rewind several times to check what was happening.
So very very disappointed

strange!

I wish I had read this book rather than listen to it. The Welsh names and locations sound like they were dubbed on after recording the book, and although credit was given to some police procedures experts at the end enough mistakes were left in to jar. I like the concept and I like the story lines I think I might just read the next one though.

Pronunciation

I really enjoyed the story and the characters but the Welsh names were poorly pronounced which was a shame. Loved the book though and will order the next one.

Undecided, not bad, not terrific

In series, I always get pulled in as much by the characters as the plots, and I just don’t find Ruth as engaging as I’d like. I like flawed characters/characters that have been through a lot, but Ruth just isn’t quite doing it for me. I just find her a bit immature and, for the namesake of a series, not inspiring as a police officer/investigator. She’s just a bit ho hum.

I find Nick a bit more interesting as a cop, although I’d like to see his character grow a bit.

Also, Nick & Ruth are presented like they really click & are close, but they don’t actually spend all that much time together. It’s odd.

I was intrigued after the first book, but after this one, I haven’t decided if I’ll continue with it.

On the narrator - she seemed fine with the exception of how she pronounces “audible.” She says “audiable.” It came up a few times in the books & I just found it distracting. Maybe it’s a Welsh thing, I listen to plenty of other U.K. narrators and don’t remember ever hearing it before.

Storyline ok - disappointed with narration

I persevered after the first book in the series but, although I would like to continue the series I am afraid I can’t listen to the narrator again. I found her words seem to sound forced and her phrasing didn’t sound natural. Disappointed to say the least.

Good Book......However

The book is good story interesting but the author has found a extreme liking for the word :HOWEVER" and uses it way too many times.
