Summary

Same slow but enjoyable story
I love these books but the story does move along at a rather slow pace. What with the spin-off esque Foxglove Summer, we return to London and to the chase for the Faceless man. A good story with more details revealed (no spoilers) but I wish either the books were a bit longer or more would develop.

Drifted off now and again
Would you listen to The Hanging Tree again? Why?
I think I'll have to, because for the first time, I frequently drifted off and totally lost track of the story and dialogues.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
This one was not as captivating as his previous ones. Feels like an interlude. This might perhaps have worked better as an integral part of a somewhat larger story.
What about Kobna Holdbrook-Smith’s performance did you like?
He's good.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There was none. It mainly made me long for the earlier books.

A welcome return to form
As much as I enjoyed the bus mans holiday of Foxglove Summer, it seemed like an awful long wait for the Hanging Tree to arrive. I wondered if it was going to be too much to follow on such a fantastic series but The Hanging Tree comes back with a bang and a welcome return to the side of London we all know and love. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith does a blinding job with the narration and voices behind the well loved characters, and this time, even Lady Ty comes out of it a better person,which turns out rather Ironic. There wasnt one thing I didnt like, worth the wait? yes.

Just keep getting better
I’m slightly afraid that Ben will one day decide not to write these any more and then what will I do! I’m a little nervous if the new one which isn’t involving Peter as the lead but will now move onto lies sleeping happily.

It’s ok but the writer seems hung up on colour
I did enjoy the story, but B.A. seems to think the first detail we need to know about someone is their colour and has made every titled character and goddess black - I couldn’t help but notice his obcession and found it tedious and obvious.
