About this listen

When a soggy bottom is the least of your worries....

The producers of Witchflix TV favorite The Great Witchy Cake Off are searching for somewhere new to base the filming of their next series. Naturally, Alfhild Daemonne, a long time fan of all things cakey, invites them to Whittle Inn.

But what seemed like a great opportunity for a little harmless Wonky Inn self-promotion backfires when, at dawn on the first day of filming, one of the contestants is found toes-up outside the famous marquee.

Alf can’t believe her rotten luck.

But it’s not all bad news. The producers need a fresh contestant, and Florence the ghost—Alf's long-dead housekeeper—is in the right place at the right time. Who knew the baking world could be so deadly? But never mind, solving this mystery should be a piece of cake.

Shouldn’t it?

Chaos, catastrophe, ghosts, and giggles in this warm and wonky, clean and cozy witch series of mysteries.

The Great Witchy Cake Off is a standalone but complements the Wonky Inn series as a whole. Best served with a huge Devonshire Cream Tea!

I enjoyed this book. With so many reality cooking shows and competitions on tv it's easy to imagine and picture the setting for this story, although I don't think you would have watched a show quite like the way this one turned out and I loved every minute. The characters are a big reason the series is so entertaining and still going strong. That and the fact that I think the author has fun writing about these characters, it shows not only in her writing but also in the situations the characters find themselves in. Who else would ask ghosts to produce a tv show? There is a lot going on, on the mystery side of the story too. I was to busy cheering on Florence the resident ghost maid and baker to guess who was responsible for the murder and sabotage. Although looking back there was clues. Off to start the next book.

Witchflix is hosting The Great Witchy Cake off on the Wonky inn grounds, which means the inn is over run with tv crews, production staff, judges and contestants. However before they can even start filming things are not off to a good start, with complaints about not enough room, the use of a food truck and that's all before the peace keeper of the group in found dead. The show must go on and a new producer and a new contestant are called in but with strange happens it seem someone either doesn't want the show to go on or they want to get away with murder. Can Alf find the killer before the kitchen timer goes off?
I like the narrator. She helps spread the magic and delight of these quirky characters I her own special way.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
