Couldn't stand the reader's dreary voice

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Another reader. I could only stand her for one and a half stories. Completely ruined the book.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Only managed one complete story in this anthology, although I do know some of these stories already

What didn’t you like about Cathy Dobson’s performance?

Her voice was dreary in the extreme lacking, in any emotion or differentiation between characters

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

For stories of this sort I think a man's voice is preferable - the M R James recordings by Derek Jacobi are excellent.

Ruined by the narration

I bought this book in spite of a number of reviews slating the narration, I could not believe Audio could really employ so poor a narrator and I love ghost stories. . Unfortunately I was wrong, it was so poor that I gave up at chapter three. The narrators voice was so monotone it, if you will excuse the pun, sucked all life out of the ghost stories.
