Summary

The end of the world had arrived just as many had predicted, in a global exchange of nuclear weapons.

What no one predicted was the sudden message that appeared before every living soul moments before impact, a message from "The Administrators" revealing our entire world and everything in it to be a species simulation. According to the message, humanity had been reset over a million times and every single time we could not prevent our own extinction.

No more resets for humanity. No more chances.

They would leave our world an irradiated disaster, but to keep things interesting, they would convert our species simulation to a game for their twisted entertainment.

Digital or not, real or not, I have a family to protect. A wife and daughter who need me, universe be damned. I say bring it on. Welcome to the end of the world.

Welcome to The Great Filter.

Good read

It was a good book and worth listening to. Well read and kept me interested although it was quite slow at times and didn't actually have much of the gamelit bits most do. Although, it did feel like a long introduction to the series and characters so hopefully the story, speed and mechanics will pick up next book. Bit of a preview, and origin story.

Was that another "OOPS" from the narrorator?

I liked it more than I have other books lately so you get the review. I like how Mr. Wilbinski (now known as Alphabet) used variances of trade marked items and it kept me on my toes when listening. Great concept and at times I felt the earth was in a snow globe.
Mr. Hellegers (Alphabet2) did a wonderful job with the narrating and it was easy to know which character was talking.

I do need to put a Hello Kitty sticker on my next flame thrower now, bling counts.

When is book two?

Where did this guy come from?

This author has risen to my must buy writer's list. Two books in (different series) and I am hooked. His characters have depth, they are NOT stupid. The women are real people, not caricatures. The action is amazing and he shows, doesn't tell, you the story.
If you get annoyed buy authors who engage in endless dialogue because they are too lazy to let the story tell itself you will not find that here. The world IS, the characters react to what they have been given, they make mistakes and they learn from them. These are people I can cheer for.
Wilbinski you have a fan. Great job.

PS. Spoiler: This is to the author, so don't read this part random reader of awesomeness. Wilbinski, please bring him back. He was too awesome to lose. You had me choked up. Not enough to lose my man card, but enough to make me slightly uncomfortable. Not cool dude. ;)

Well, that was a lot better than I expected

I'll try not to give any spoilers.

The narrator is great. He voiced one of my favorite Litrpg series World:Seed and he does another excellent job. The female voices aren't the best I've heard from a male narrator, but it doesn't hurt the performance.

The story is reminiscent of another Litrpg I've heard. I think it was called Apocalypse: gates or something. Though this system seems way more flushed out and interesting.

The offbrand jokes come throughout the book and I always get a kick out of them. Also, throughout the entire book I couldn't help feeling that our MC wasn't the real one.. Like, he's just a stop gap until the real hero shows up to woop as$. I think it'll become more and more clear who that is as the story unfolds. You may overlook that person if your not really listening either.

If you wanted to think about it in comic book terms, this book, maybe even this series, is an origin story for the superhero. Every good origin story, tends to feature heartache.

Good Book Great narration

Spoiler alert Good book and Narrator was very good. But I don't know how I feel about building up the Main Character and getting to know him and then switching to a new Main Character in the last 15 min of the book. This is supposed to be a series and I am not sure if it is going to flow very good.

Smart MCs make good Stories

It is so refreshing to listen to a story where the characters are intelligent and not Mary Sue. This story is definitely in my list of top litRPGs. I did expect the mix of post apocalyptic and video games. Can't wait for more.

Bearded Lady

Thank you for a story that has characters we can love. We can feel their pain. Women with courage and a mind. Women of all ages who can kick butt. Men who truly love a woman for who she is. Thanks for not having a harem, but showing he power of family. Wildcat will survive, but will truly miss her Breaded Lady. This is a fantastic read. From call sign Scorpio, out
