Summary

Mila Ali's fiance Warren is killed in a corporate plane crash. Grief wraps around her heart and soul - cushioning her to the outside world and the reality that is now her life. Warren had been many things to her: friend, lover, and even a part-time savior. After spending too many years working too many hours for a large corporation, Mila was able to let go and love Warren, even at the expense of losing her traditional Somalian father's favor.

Nothing could have prepared her for such a devastating loss, yet the fragile bubble she has built around her heart is shattered when Mila comes face to face with Blake Baldwin - billionaire, womanizer, Warren's boss...and the owner of that fateful airplane.

Blake Baldwin is too handsome for words, with a body that could melt hearts and a piercing stare that cut through Mila's every defense. The encounter seems to ignite a fascination in the enigmatic billionaire, one that sends him to the beautiful Somalian's door again and again....

Mila is not looking for love - been there, done that, but Blake will not rest until Mila Ali is his. He thrusts her into a frenzy of confusion, deception, and passion. Blake just may be the bandage Mila's wounded heart and neglected body needs, or he could be the biggest heartbreak of all.

Contains mature themes.

Had some issues but still enjoyed

This is my second book by this author. She’s a good writer, sometimes she throws hurdles that make it difficult to love every character.

I liked that the heroine was East African and dark skinned because there isn’t a lot of color or ethnicity diversity with black women in romance.

I just didn’t connect to the hero(he slept with many outside of the heroine which made their intimate times less special, had even slept with her sister at one point) sometimes there was slut shamey language I didn’t love, and whether it was intentional or not, very cishet anti-lesbian/ff rhetoric(probably wasn’t aware her comments were such).

I liked it but not enough to give it a five.

Morals say No but Romance Called

He is in an unfaithful relationship. Having asked for and not been given a divorce he proceeds to date. She felt a pull to him as well although she fought it. Her fiance died and she felt the comfort of another would help. Her final realization is shocking. The twists that surround her fiance's death is the source of moren investigation from her new love interest. As all of this goes on the family disfunction that exists with her father who disowned her for not accepting an arranged marriage, judgement from the sister that does, and drama from her sister in an unconventional relationship provide all the drama you will need.

IT KEPT GETTING BETTER!!!!

A new favorite. As this book reveals itself you discover your first impression is not quite what you think. Love the dynamics of "Blake" and when I almost hated him I fell hard for his character. You will love the ride😃.

Ridiculous

When reading the details of the book, I thought it would have been a wonderful read. I was sadly mistaken. The female narrator’s voice has made it impossible for me to even get past the gist Dee chapters, let alone finish the first book. I wasted my money on two books that I can’t listen to, because of it. Not to mention that the story line makes no sense at all. It’s all over the place.

Great story, didn't care for the Lacy's narration

Turns out I really enjoyed this audiobook. I did not like Lacy Laurel's narration. She was whiny and too airy. All in all it was a great story.

Multiple narrators sounds better

I thought this book was supposed to be so hot. It was just nasty. I was disgusted by the unrealistic sex scenes, supposed deep throating, and anal play. I see the writer doesn’t actually have any personal experience or did any research. It was like watching a messy porn but not being able to hear. A fantasy is one thing, but it has to make sense. Sex is not a “clean” experience. Your narrators were emotionless and sounded like they were over trying. Or reading to a child while trying not to be aroused. Overly excited; when this should be read in sultry tones at appropriate times. Male parts should be read by men and female parts by women. Hearing Lacy try to speak “baritone” just angered me. You don’t necessarily need someone with an accent to speak the parts but it would’ve made the book easier to listen to. And the voices didn’t match the characters. I just couldn’t take them anymore. There was no depth to the story. It shouldn’t have been this long. Know when to stop. I didn’t even finish the book. I hate I wasted my time. I am so done with Audible. I would rather read silently.
