Summary

Can Anastasia trust the seductive stranger who holds her future in his hands? And how much will she risk for a love more precious than gold? Anastasia Colby, raised in America and the granddaughter of an English viscount, returns home to claim her family legacy. But all is not as it should be at Medford Manor. Someone's treachery threatens everything Anastasia cherishes most.

With nowhere to turn, Anastasia seeks out the only man she can trust, Damen Lockewood, marquess of Sheldrake. When the seductive nobleman - who controls her inheritance and regards business above all else - makes Anastasia an offer she can’t refuse, unexpected passion ignites. As Anastasia plunges deeper into a growing web of violence and deceit, she realizes how far she’ll go to protect a precious blood bond - and a priceless passion.

Great story, just not sure about the narrator

loved the story, but the narrators voice did start to grate on my nerves by about half way through.

Loved this book

I enjoyed every moment and am currently downloading 'The Silver Coin". It really grabbed my attention so much so that I just couldn't stop listening. Think I had better do a few jobs before I start on the 2nd book. Flora Mcdonald made a beautiful job of reading this book. I shall be watching for more books by Andrea & read by Flora

Loved every second of it

The story was absolutely brilliant. loved every second of it. But I didn't particularly like the narrator's voice for Damien,Anastasia and Breanna, the 3 main characters of the story. Her voice for Damien really didn't suit him. It suited George but not Damien. But I will definitely listen to the next one of the series.

Not as riveting as you’d think

There are many good plot points in this story, but only one (minor) twist was somewhat surprising. This book felt like a romance by numbers, book! You could see everything coming! Nothing was a surprise! Even the minor plot twist, one could guess at before it was revealed.

I also found the tale very long and…, well, dull. It sagged in the middle and the ending was a bit flat.

I’m glad that this was a free listen - I would have been disappointed if I had paid for it. I’ll only listen to book 2, if it too is free.

Could not finish

The anachronism is evident right from the beginning: a viscount’s descendants cannot have courtesy titles such as “Lord” or “Lady.” They have “The Hon” before their names. As they appear again and again, the mistake become more appalling.
The cheesy voices adopted by the narrator for the two main female characters are so horrible that I did not make through Ch2.
