Summary

Mikael Blomkvist is contacted by renowned scientist Professor Balder. Fearing for his life, but more concerned for his son's well-being, Balder wants Millennium to publish his story.

More interesting to Blomkvist than Balder's advances in Artificial Intelligence, is his connection with a certain female superhacker.

It seems that Lisbeth Salander, like Balder, is a target of ruthless cyber gangsters that will soon bring terror to the streets of Stockholm, the Millennium team, and Blomkvist and Salander themselves.

Brilliant! You won't be disappointed

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Great plot and picks up Steig Larsson's narrative style and intrigue of previous Milenium books. New and old characters - a great book and hooked for the rainy bank holiday. Love the fact that this series continues.

What did you like best about this story?

New characters and some great lines!

What does Saul Reichlin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He's fabulous - really makes it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - but exhausted so I had to listen over 2 days. Loaded it on my mobile device so I can listen to on the go too.

Any additional comments?

This is a must read for all Salander and Blomkvist fans!

Good audio book, story not the same

I really enjoyed the original millennium trilogy and was happy to see the story continue. Now this story has the carcass of one of Steigs book but it isn't like the original trilogy it feels very different like a PG version of the adult series and not the same. But a passable story in the whole.

a worthy sequel

Gripping plot but many of new characters were not developed as well as they might have been. Narration was a rather wooden.

Slow story line

Struggled to finish as story line felt to drag on a bit and not nearly as good as the original stories

A new slant to an old favourite

I approached this novel with mixed emotions, worried how Larsonn's storyline would hold up in Lagercrantz's hands. I needn't have worried. This is a different writer, in a different style, but staying loyal to the characters. I enjoyed this book. Some observations
- the distorted voices for telephone calls doesn't work for me
- the most difficult part of the book for me was the first third, where the scene of the new story is set. Stick with it, once Blomqvist and Salander are involved, it begins to make more sense.
- Camilla is seriously weird.
- a job as a young journalist at Millennium is not a smart career move
- what year is this set in? At one point I thought it was a few months after the original trilogy, but there are some other references that could only com after 2010.

I'm looking forward to more in this series.

Different author but same style and same plot

feels just like a Millenium book. It's almost impossible to tell it's not the same author. My only criticism is that it's slightly predictable. But the story is the natural progression for the characters. overall I really enjoyed it.

A good continuation of the series

The three original Millennium books were brilliant and so a different author picking up the pieces to continue the story has a very difficult job on this hands. That said, I think he managed it. The story continues in a style that is very close to Larsson's and I feel stands up well alongside the original three. If you enjoyed the original three books I feel fairly certain that you will like this.

Disappointing sequel

Completely lacked the depth, substance or style of the trilogy. Very much felt like a poor attempt to close down the Salander character.

very enjoyable again

Where does The Girl in the Spider's Web rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As the fourth in the series it definitely is the lowest ranking. The story was finished.
