Summary

Renowned author Delphine Larue needs a haven. A crazed fan has gone over the deep end, and she’s not safe. Her security team has suggested a house by a lake. Secluded. Private. Far away. In a beautiful area of the Northwest close to the sleepy town of Misted Pines. It’s perfect. So perfect, Delphine has just moved in, and she’s thinking she’ll stay there forever.

Until she sees the girl in the mist.

After that, everything changes.

Delphine quickly learns that Misted Pines isn’t so sleepy. A little girl has gone missing, and the town is in the grips of terror and tragedy. The local sheriff isn’t up for the job. The citizens are up in arms. And as the case unfolds, the seedy underbelly of a quiet community is exposed, layer by layer.

But most importantly, girls are dying.

There seems to be only one man they trust to find out what’s happening.

The mysterious Cade Bohannan.

Outstanding. I’m in love 😍

This is Kristen Ashley at her best. An amazing, emotional, truly thrilling read.

Someone made a ridiculous comment that the characters were ‘old’!! 53 old seriously?Stand aside honey and let the grownups read 😜.

I know I will listen to again to see how the puzzle pieces fit.
The narration is perfect. Not heard Hillary Huber before but I will look out for her after this.
But it you won’t regret it.

Rambling

The last few Kristen Ashley books have been poor compared with the brilliance of her earlier books and while thankfully there was a single narrator in this, the rambling monologues and endless, pointless descriptions of home decor meant my mind wandered as I was listening to this and some characters (some of which turned out to be important) passed me by.
It’s neither a thriller nor a romance, but dabbles in both. There is the occasional hint of KA at her best in this but not enough to retain my interest.
And what is the obsession with pegging in her recent books? I don’t get it.
Complete story. I can’t recommend this, if you want KA at her thriller/romance writing best then try Lady Luck or At Peace instead.

What a great storyline

I'm almost upset I finished this book, I would have been happy to listen for days, instead of the 24 hours it took me. Kristen Ashley is a wonderful writer, and brings all the characters to life, which I loved getting to know. Brilliantly narrated

Great

Definitely my favourite. Less raunchy than some of her others which I preferred. Great story

I loved it!

It’s a great mystery suspense that’s filled with danger, family love, and romance. I loved the older characters and the exciting storyline that was brought to life by terrific narration. It’s my first Kristen Ashley read but it won’t be the last.

The human re-telling of the Wife of Bath

Like many others I studied The Wife of Baths prologue at school but boy do I wish this book was available at the time. So many elements of the authors re writing of her story add such enrichment and insight into the character made this an absolute delight to read.
Karen Brooke you are a genius.

Starts ok

Storyline starts ok but it becomes very confused nonsense. Stuck with it longer than I should have but finally gave up half way through totally fed up with the sexual references which were toe curling bad!

Listen to it in one sitting 😍

Really enjoyed this romantic suspense and it didn't actually guess anything right 😱 the book kept me hooked and I had to read some parts 2x to fully understand it. In order to savour it I listened to it at 1,5/1,7 speed (I normally listen to books at 2/2,5 speed). Narration was excellent but I feel it needed a male narrator too.
The romance was good, even if it was slow burn (painfully slow), the suspense/mysteries me hooked to the end.
I love that that 2 of the main characters are in their 50s. It read a bit different than other KA books but it was a good different, but the spice (when it happened) was great too.

Action packed

This book is non-stop action. With an intriguing storyline with a great who done it feel to it. You will be completely entertained. The characters are well written and likable. A fantastic performance given.
