In a remote, crumbling house in the Fens live four sisters - Agatha, Milly, and Ellen and Esther - identical twins so closely linked as to be almost one person. They have lived there all their lives, trapped still by the fear of their dead father, who governs his daughters' lives from beyond the grave. And then there is George, another inhabitant, imprisoned in the cellar. Little by little, macabre events come to light: events that transform an idyllic country childhood into a world of eccentric isolation.

Could it be someone who lived in the house a century earlier?

LITERARY GOLD HAS BEEN STRUCK
I've been keeping up with Mary Downing Hahn's books for a VERY long time, ever since I became an avid reader of hers around 2005. This book may be short, but it reminded me of why exactly I wanted to be a writer at the age of 8. if you enjoyed Wait till Helen comes, as I did as a child, you will adore this book. it's short, sweet, and the creative writing style is Top Notch. buy it. read it. never look back.

Excellent Narrator!
Although “Wait Till Helen Comes” remains my favorite Mary Downing Hahn novel, I still enjoyed this book. That being said, it wasn’t as scary as I expected (and perhaps hoped). But, hey. Whaddya gonna do?

Great YA Book
Mary Downing Hahn is one of my favorite children's authors. She's one of only a few who write this genre for elementary school age kids and she does an outstanding job. I bought this book for my grand-daughter for Christmas and listened to it so I would be able to discuss it with her. It was much more graphic than her previous books and bordered on "thriller", not just scary. As expected, it was a great book but I would only recommend this book for 7th grade and up.

Good book, distracting presentation
The performance is very distracting. The narrator reads each sentence as of it is a complete and separate thought. Long pauses between sentences made the story seem very disjointed. She placed emphasis on words within the sentences that created a very odd rhythm to the thought.
The story is good for tween-age children (I listened to it with my 10 year old). But I found myself so distracted by the presentation that I found myself relieved when it was over.

Good for the age it was intended
This was a nice heart warming ghost story clearly made for teenagers. I was expecting something more my age so I shall continue to look elsewhere. It was a good story, but very simple.
