Summary
Southampton 1920. Phoebe Collins rose to the challenge of running the family fruit and veg stall when her father did not return from the front. The work outside in Kingsland market in all weathers can be hard, but with her mother and younger brother Tim to support, she's determined that it continue to be a success.
However, when Phoebe finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses something terrible, she will need all her strength to face the trials ahead and the fear that her loved ones may come to harm.

lovely family story of sad and joy full time
it was a lovely story of a young lady life on the market stall the
hard worker at a young age looking after her family the grief and happiness she went through.

A nice story but lacking substance
I really enjoyed the characters, the storyline was interesting enough. However I didn't feel it had the flavour of the 1920,s. It felt a bit modern day in quite a few ways, a little casual also with little regard to a young woman's respectability.
Also there was a chapter which was cut short even deleting and reloading it was still missing a chunk. I don't know if this was down to Audible or the publishers, however I was a little saddened to miss a wedding.

Chapter 32 is not complete
It is an okay book. A bit too slow moving for my taste. Too bad something is wrong with chapter 32.

Could have been great
I just didn’t warm to it, a bit of an interesting story but all a bit “blah” and I found the voices a tad annoying…. Have loved other books by her though

Great story
I enjoyed this listen the story was good but benefited from the excellent narration you  could imagine each character when they spoke which made it all the more enjoyable.

where is chapter 32??
it's ok. I kept waiting for something big but nothing came. Also chapter 32 cuts off after around 20 seconds. The entire wedding is missing.

Good wholesome crime vs love story read
This was a sweet story that follows the lives of various layers of characters. Loved the accent of the various characters and the threads of the story that was told well

amazing
This story was very easy to follow, which I feel was down to the high standard the narrator portrayed of each character no matter the age or sex it was easy to recognise each one easily. The story was very interesting to listen to throughput the whole book, a great read!
