sexist rant
I guess the author got the rough end of a divorce prior to writing this rubbish.
According to this book all men are stupid unfaithful sex addicts incapable of thought when their trousers are lowered and are only a success because of their clever wives who reign supreme and defeat them by using their astonishing and under appreciated superior intellect.
This is frankly the most sexist book I've had the misery of listening to. If it were the other way around and written by a man he'd be had up for sexual prejudice and berated for female stereotyping!

5 stars!
My first book by Camilla Lackberg and what a great surprise! Her writing style is wonderful and you would not know the book wasn't originally in English (in fact the grammar is better as no colloquialisms). Intriguing storyline and the narrator did a superb job, her voice was perfect for the main character. (There are a few sex scenes so just a warning for those who might not like that).

Too feminist and frustrating
The story itself wasn’t very enjoyable, I’m a Camilla fan and I’ve read loads of her books in Danish and the stories have been interesting, but this one seems too much about revenge and there is too much swearing in it, making it all sound too cheap. I’ve pretty much lost interest after the first few chapters.
I will finish it, but I also find one of the narrator’s voices annoying, there is a constant lip smacking and swallowing noise that is way too disrupting. Not to mention her inability to pronounce place names correctly. “Chamonix” (Sends shivers down my spine).

Best Writer
Faye is very smart but very needy from an horrific childhood and all she wanted was a good marriage. It is not difficult to understand why she set up her father and husband but why did she have to kill unimportant Victor who was forgotten in the book as soon as she walked away? That is the dark part. I listen with ear pods; there was no sudden blasting music and the narration didn't offend my ears. Excellent story, I have read all her books and would rate this one more that five.

There was a time about ten years ago when I couldn’t get enough of Camilla’s books. Two chapters in (two painful chapters) and I just couldn’t go on. What a boring book. Poorly written and just utter rubbish. The narration was great. I think my lackberg days are over sadly.

The listener is deliberately kept guessing about what led to the events described at the beginning. The resolution was worth the wait.
