Summary
It's Halloween, and the ghosts of Victorian London are stirring...
Shadows fall across the city as a cold, dreary evening draws in. Jake Shillingsworth, serving boy in London's most notorious inn, The Tattered Crow, is about to discover some ghostly truths.
Hidden eyes watch from empty rooms, and something lurks in the attic above Jake’s squalid room. Shuffles, scratches, and scrapes echo in the dead of night.
When Jake returns from a mysterious errand for his odious master, he soon finds himself thrust into a terrifying adventure. Accosted by a strange old man, Jake hears a bone-chilling tale of a ghost from the past, black magic, and bloody revenge. And as the clock ticks toward midnight, Jake's forced to confront the dark presence lurking in the shadows of The Tattered Crow like a spider waiting in a ghostly web.
The Ghosts of the Tattered Crow is an eerie, short gaslamp fantasy story of ghost-hunting and magic in darkest Victorian London.

SPOOKY AND ATMOSPHERIC
Set in Victorian London and a prequel to the wonderful Clockwork Magician. The story centres on serving boy Jake and hos mission to kill a ghost. There is a good sense of the historical period it is set in and Hannibal brings character to the voices.

Short and fun, but predictable
Here we have a fun little spooky tale, though it is rather on the predictable side. As always, Hannibal Hills gives a fantastic performance with well-crafted voices, excellent vocal inflections, and perfect tempo shifts. This is functionally a prequel to The Clockwork Magician, which I recently read and quite enjoyed. Here we come back to 13-year-old Jake Shillingsworth for a short ghost story. The author does a good job of building up suspense as he leads up to the final confrontation, and takes an interesting approach to some of the afterlife questions he answers. However, this is one of those stories that I feel could have really benefited from a wild twist at the end. The kind of twist that completely re-frames the entire story and makes everything mean something different than we thought. As it is, it's still a fun little tale, it just lacks that something extra to make it a great, memorable experience.

I don’t know why I keep doing it...
I keep getting Eldritch Black books for free and I really enjoy Hannibal Hills’ performances, but I often feel like the stories just don’t need to be told. They aren’t substantial. There’s not depth, which is why they are so short, I suppose. But as far as short stories go, these all fall short.

Halloween is approaching and this is a great ghost story
Our story here centers around a serving boy in a Victorian era inn. He is given a job by his master and he dare not fail. What happens though when he discovers that his master is even worse than he believed? What decisions will be made? The story is captivating and the narrators voice fits the bill for the story location and period and pulls you right into the attic and the action. Fun, quick little read
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the publisher, and so I am providing an honest review in response. Overall, this short ghost story was a fun, quick read written in the tradition of classic ghost stories (which I love). However, I found it somewhat unremarkable. I liked it for what it was.

Hills and Black again ghost stories
This is an excellent classic ghost story, there aren't any real surprises here, We get the aesthetic writing style of Eldritch Black, and Hannibal Hills masterful performances throughout. This pair is always the right choice for something dark and dramatic. this is a good way to spend an hour and a half

Old World England Paranormal Tale
This was a fun short story of a boy that is told to destroy an evil spirit before midnight or the spirit will eat him. The setting is in an old English tavern and the streets surrounding. The narrator did a great job and was fun to listen to. It's a pretty clean story and not too scary.... you just have the feeling that something is going to jump out at you. Good for the Goosebumps readers and up. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fantastic
I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Jake is a set wrong boy who is not treated well than he is suddenly tasked with an interesting job that he has to complete before the end of Halloween. Killing a ghost shouldn’t be a problem right?

Wanting More!
Another little glimpse into Jakes world and I really do want more. This was a free gift for my opinion and I thought it was totally awesome! Hannibal Hill has really brought these characters to life with great voices and what a splendid ghosty story lol! I would even say a great bedtime story if you have younger children you read too at night. Super fun read.
