Summary

From New York Times best-selling author, Angie Fox, a hauntingly fun holiday addition to the USA Today best-selling Southern Ghost Hunter series

Southern girl Verity Long needs a Christmas miracle....

Verity is ready to deck the halls, jingle some bells, and maybe, just maybe have a merry Christmas with her boyfriend’s stuffy family. Truly, if she doesn’t extend the proverbial olive branch to the overbearing Wydells, she’s afraid she’ll hit them over the head with it.

But when her boyfriend’s mother pulls a shocking stunt, Verity finds herself with a big decision to make. And if that’s not enough, there’s an unexpected guest at her door. It’s the ghost of the woman who helped rescue Verity’s pet skunk three years ago that very night. And now she’s there to change Verity’s life as well.

A "between the books" holiday story you don't want to miss!

A Wonderful Cozy Tale of Christmas Spirit.

I’m a big fan of The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series and have read all the books to date. Angie’s writing style is fantastic. I love the pace at which her tales flow, how she lets the mysteries evolve and how she weaves all the elements of her stories together. The characters are full-bodied – even the dead ones – and easily come to life in my imagination. Angie weaves present-day mysteries and murders with those of the past and always includes a twist that surprises me!

Although this is a quick short read, all of my expectations were met beautifully.
I was completely engaged from the first page to the last. The Ghost of Christmas Past will be one of those books I reach for again and again.

I downloaded the narration and was once again impressed by Tavia Gilbert’s performance. The pace at which she read, the emotions she infused the different scenes with and the tonal variations she used for the dialogue. Tavia’s narration added rather than diminished Angie’s book.

I really loved this story.
The Ghost of Christmas Past is a great introduction to the series if you haven’t started it yet. We also get a sneaky excerpt from the next book at the end too.

So bad I couldn't listen on...

I couldn't listen beyond the first few minutes, which was enough to set the scene for {YAAAAWN!} another round of Verity allowing herself to be treated like shit by her boyfriend's vindictive bitch of a mother.

At this point I have lost all respect for the character of Verity.

She needed to grow a backbone, slap her boyfriend's mother into the middle of next week, and start sticking up for herself in the face of her idiot boyfriend's blinkered wish for them to get along AT LEAST three books ago. I can't listen to any more books filled with utter rubbish about Southern Manners and the wish to avoid gossip being valid reasons for allowing yourself to be treated as a human doormat.

It's a shame because the stories are otherwise engaging and entertaining but as a continuing theme the Polite Southern Masochist routine was worn out long before this book and should have been well and truly laid to rest.

I'm afraid this series and I will have to part company.
