About this listen

Cameron Fairway has a secret.

Before he shares it with the world, he's determined to build the confidence he wants to live life as a gay man and the experience hell need to snag Mr. Right. For that, he requires a mentor--someone experienced. Someone with manners. Someone discreet enough to be able to mix business with pleasure under the watchful eye of his fathers empire--a gentleman. Pete Carver is without a doubt that man.
Pete Carver has a problem.

Pete doesn't mix business with pleasure because there is no pleasure in business. There's only order and discipline if you want to succeed. When the boss youngest son approaches him with a proposition that rattles every one of his sensibilities, Pete is determined to get to the bottom of the ploy. Because that's all it can possibly be--why else would the ruthless John Fairways son proposition a straight man in his father's company? The apple can't fall far from the tree.

* This story contains the following elements: slow burn, hurt/comfort, awakening, homophobic/racist parent, familial emotional abuse, obsessive compulsive disorder

This story has so many layers to it. I laughed, I had tears, I got mad and I was sorry it ended.
Pete, who has a few issues of his own, decides on a career that has nothing to do with the family business.
Cam, who is a standout in his family and not for in their opinions a good character trait, just wanted to be an artist. Yet, he is forced to join the family business.
Both come from opposite types of families. Pete is lucky enough to come from a family who is loving and accepting. Cam is unlucky to come from a family who seems to be unaccepting and doesn’t appear to know what love is.
Pete is straight or at least he believes he is when Cam presents him with a dilemma that makes him reexamine himself. Cam knows he is gay he just doesn’t know how to be gay.
I laughed so hard at the toy section of this story. Had tears so many times and was mad at the same time. I love this story. I wish it were part of a series that revisited these characters.
The narration by Joshua Macrae was perfect for these characters.

Reread as audiobook. Great narration, very easy to figure out which character is which.
Story - 4 stars. I've never not loved the works by this author, but for the first part of this book, I struggled a bit - I just found it hard somehow to feel the MCs. The second part more than made up for it. The strong wish for both MCs to help each other shone. I appreciate reading about someone with OCD as I didn't know much about it. It's definitely worth reading.

This was such a sweet story but it still has several aspects in it. Both Cameron and Pete have their issues. Cameron is the youngest son of the owner of a big snack company. He is used to being ignored by his family. But he is fed up with being a virgin and wants to explore his sexuality. He decides Pete is the perfect guy for this, however Pete thought he was straight and he works for Cameron's dad. But when they meet, there is a strong connection between them and Pete finds he can't say no to Cameron. They are so sweet together and so good for each other. But when Cameron's dad finds out about them, he is sent away immediately without getting to talk to Pete, which obviously worries Pete but he eventually gets hold of Cameron and persuades him to come and stay with his family. It is the making of Cameron. He's feeling loved and starts his dream job of graphic design for the local people. Pete also gives up his job and moves in with Cameron. I'm glad this story is now an audiobook. I enjoyed listening to the story and thought the narrator did a great job and fitted the story perfectly.

sweet story

Cam and Pete are a good match for me, they start as a workplace fling. In the beginning I was not sure about Pete. But he grew on me. Cam seemed a bit to keen. But man do they fit better and better throughout the development of the story.
All and all Dianna crafted another story that fkows really well and made me really enjoy both characters more and more as the story continues.
I especially appreciate how Pete 'owns' his OCD, but does not make it the centre of his live.
And I am glad Cam came into his own, coming free from his birth family, with the help of Pete and maybe more his family. 5*
Can't wait to see who will be the next person to get a book.

The narrator is new to me, but suits me as a listener really well to this story. 5*

Overall 5*

They really grew on me.

I loved loved loved the other book in this series but to compare the two is like comparing night and day. I had sore ribs from laughing from the previous book. This book is the flip to that! The narration for this is a durge, possibily the worst I heard on audible so far, the narrator sounds uninterested. The story arc so far, in a word boring and in places absolutely ridiculous. I am not going to be able to finish this one... can I get a refund?
