Summary
The MacArthur Foundation awards the “Genius Grant” every year to the most compelling scientists, educators and artists in the country. But who are these “geniuses,” really? Host Bob Garfield sits down with fellows, including writer and producer David Simon, radio producer Jad Abumrad, and inventor Amy Smith, to learn what events shaped their life, how they became leaders in their fields, and what they imagine our shared future looks like.

Great show
Great variety of guests make this a fab series to listen to. I didn't know anything about any of the guests so I loved it - every day is a school day ! The host is funny - he laughs with them, at them, calls them out, shows genuine emotions to their stories and generally gets a decent interview from them.

A fascinating personality probe of change makers.
Loved the probing questions to find out what makes these people tick. The countdown quiz was really an interesting tool to see the person behind the success. So many lessons to learn about how to develop successful traits and I'm just in awe of the numerous problems these people have solved and the impact their lives have had on the world!

A Good Listen
Interesting radio dialogues with diverse exceptional people and an unexceptional narrator. No real insight however into the McArthur prize & how it is processed or judged.

Can’t listen to this around the kids because of the language
I can’t listen to this book around my kids because of the language. Every so often they drop the F word and for no real reason. Deleting. Sad because it is something I would have liked
