Summary

Use the science of motivation with the power of game design to unlock motivation and drive progress in your organisation. There are two conventional ways to approach motivation: set goals and try to change attitudes and beliefs (which takes a lot of personalised effort); or develop incentives and rewards to inspire effort (which takes a lot of money).

This book shows you how to take a third new approach - designing the work itself to be inherently motivating. Combining the best elements of three distinct fields - motivational science, game design, and agile management - this book shows you how to positively influence behaviour through better work and project design.

This game-changing book: Gives you a refreshing science-based approach to the classic challenge of motivation in the workplace and is ideal for any leader or manager looking to take their workplace culture in a new direction. The Game Changer includes practical advice for creating highly productive, motivated, and innovative teams.

Motivation strategy and design expert, Dr. Jason Fox, consults on leadership and change management to a wide range of clients - from the executives of multinational organisations, through to the directors of switched-on startups. The Game Changer  will show you how to unlock creative, productive, and collaborative work. It is the perfect resource for forward-thinking leaders in organisations and teams focused on crafting a work culture that gets the best out of their people.

Great content (if u survive the first 3 chapters) , beautifully read

Even though the first three chapters take a lot of determination to get through - replete with management speak and lots of smart one liners - the book really blossoms into something of its own after that. A great read with lots of good and practical advice after that.

Brilliantly read aswell that makes the audiobook very energising and inspiring.

Worth a listen to...

I got about 50% through this audio book, then bought the hard copy so I could make notes and reinforce my learning. There’s a lot to grasp and luckily I have been listening to a lot of books on this subject so I was able to access the ideas.

He mentions a number of strategies, and within an hour or two of listening I implemented them to test their effectiveness.

So far I’m impressed.

Going to listen to his next book Quest now to reinforce what I’ve learned so far...

One of the absolute best books I have read on motivation psychology, period.

I have read an endless number of books on motivation psychology, and a comparably large number of books on game design - this book manages to do both better than most. Beyond that, the humor and subtext of Jason’s writing is top flight. Finally, someone has elected to rise above the stuffy foo foo fluff to deliver something of complete and total value. Well done, sir. Thank you.

Narration won't let me appreciate content.

The narration style is very annoying to me. Sounds like a robot when he makes. Pauses. When. Talking.

It was really distracting from the content. I would love to have the option to chose another narrator.

Sack of whining drivel

Author is no expert and book is pure shit. Does not deserve any further critique.
