It starts really well then drifts a bit with many boring details. The narrator wasn't great in English - very flat delivery so difficult to raise interest in anything. The unexpressive tone became a drone. I didn't feel anything for the characters unfortunately despite wanting to love this I was very disappointed.
I am an avid reader & listener of Japanese literature, contemporary fiction & found this mediocre at best.

The opening chapters of this book have a certain naive charm but it goes rapidly downhill. The reading by the male narrator emphasises the thinness of the story. However it is mercifully short.
