Summary

It starts almost by accident: the women who buy their knitting needles and wool from Georgia Walker's little yarn shop linger for advice, for a coffee, for a chat and before they know it, every Friday night is knitting night.

And as the needles clack, and the garments grow, the conversation moves on from patterns and yarn to life, love and everything. They may be different ages, from different backgrounds and facing different problems, but they are drawn together by threads of affection that prove as durable as the sweaters they knit.

Enjoyable book

Really lovely story. Would recommend.
It started slowly but gradually the characters developed and I enjoyed the book .

Good story, disappointing delivery

Great story and for the most part a good delivery, apart from one big ’but…’.

The chapters were introduced, but within chapters each character had a separate focus. I would assume that in the printed book these were identified in some way - perhaps with a paragraph break - but this Audible presentation didn’t do this, the commentary just ran on. This made listening very confusing as you’d be in a section on one character then get confused as their story started to not make sense - it didn’t make sense as the story had moved on to another character but you didn’t immediately know that. This was particularly difficult at the start when all the characters’ personal stories were being introduced.

Something as simple as a pause in the commentary would identify this change in direction and stop the confusion. Or better still, just say the character’s name before continuing.

Had this been done I would have given 5* across the board.

I really liked this

The ending wasn’t at all what I expected but I thought it had a lot going on and was really well written and read

Narration good, storyline did not work for me

Struggled with it a little, I think the storyline and level of detail was just not for me personally. Perhaps too many sub stories going on in the background for me. But please read it and form your own opinion you may just love it.

Relaxing audio

Thoroughly enjoyed this as I'm a knitter so it caught my imagination. Superb narration also

Great knitting of characters.

I did struggle initially to 'get into' the plot but just as it takes time to master a new knitting pattern, the characters evolved and grew.

A book of friendship

I really enjoyed listening to this book, listening to friendships change & grow. If your creative yourself even if not a knitter I think it adds another element too.

Good but took an unexpected turn

Not quite what I expected. Started off as a light-hearted, heart-warming, fun story, and ended quite sad. Still, I enjoyed it.
