Summary

The Four Laws of Love represents the culmination of Jimmy Evans' influential career. In this deeply personal book, Jimmy Evans outlines the foundational pillars upon which God designed marriage. Without holding back, he tells the story of his own marriage, which was hurtling toward divorce until this self-proclaimed "bad husband" came to recognize and put into practice these four laws.

This book sounds a wake-up call for every kind of marriage, including those that are barely surviving and those that seem to operate on autopilot. Couples who follow these simple guidelines - recognizing the original intent and purpose of marriage - will inject new life into their unions. They'll see hurting marriages find healing and watch good marriages become great. Each revitalized relationship will play a part in restoring marriage to its sacred role at the center of human civilization.

Great book with good advice but....

I was a little disappointed because this book was very similar and almost identical in some ways to Jimmy's other book "Marriage on The Rock". If you haven't read that one or this one then I would definitely recommend reading one of them.

Bible oriented, worth listening for non-believer

Marriage ranked first as priority in life, communication (tone, time, trust, truth, teamwork) implies care or lack of it. A wife should be a cheerleader, a husband a greenhouse, encouraging growing together, having mutual goals, purposes. Disarming destructive dominance. Loving the other when he/she doesn't deserve it, reject score keeping. Don't make decision based on your emotion, but don't deny your anger, make anger legal in your relationship, but learn to avoid harsh words, complain and not criticize, listen and forgive.

Foundational marriage principles

This was a good listen. If you have listened to any of Jimmy Evans talks online or at conventions then this will be easy to listen to since he narrates it.

The content of the book is great and he explains the perspectives with biblical and personal experiences that will offer most anyone a way to connect to and understand. I have found myself listening to parts multiple times to reinforce the message.

Should be primer for sex education!

I enjoyed the book and found it very informative. Even though Jimmy is clear in speaking, I would've enjoyed Karen's shared narration. I will share this book with my children and friends.

Positive Approach to Marriage

The author addresses aspects of marriage more positively than most authors I've read, even and especially when discussing struggles, and I appreciated his reading of the text. There is much wisdom here.
