Summary

A timeless story of love and sacrifice, perfect for fans of Rachel Hore, Tracy Rees and Kate Morton.

1943: the world is at war, and the villagers of Tyneham are being asked to make one more sacrifice: to give their homes over to the British army. But on the eve of their departure, a terrible act will cause three of them to disappear forever.

2018: Melissa had hoped a break on the coast of Dorset would rekindle her stagnant relationship, but despite the idyllic scenery, it’s pushing her and Liam to the brink. When Melissa discovers a strange photograph of a woman who had once lived in the forgotten local village of Tyneham, she becomes determined to find out more about her story. But Tyneham hides a terrible secret, and Melissa’s search for the truth will change her life in ways she never imagined possible.

Wonderfully engaging duel timeline story

With strong characters and duel storylines (that move between present day and the 1940's) this debut novel from Lorna Cook is captivating. Don't let the idea of duel storylines put you off, it's easy to follow. Highly recommended and I will be looking out for future books from this author.

This story had me glued to it.

I went to that village last year, it was wondertul to read a story that was weaved around it and in fiction what happened, it make me think was it fiction? Yes the story was that good.

A sweet story

A story that promises intrigue but in reality was was very obvious. That said it was a good listen and easy to pick up; I liked the intertwining with the past. I would have liked a bit more depth but I enjoyed listening.

Predictable Plot

Struuggled to finish as I had worked out the ending three quarters through the book. Too much repeating of the plot as well as the story moved from the past to the present. Well narrated though

Beautifully read, nice story, but totally predictable, there were no surprises

Beautifully read, nice story, and an easy listen, but completely predictable, and sadly no twists or turns and no surprises at all.

Good

This is a good and interesting story however it seams a little long winded. The narrator did a good job but if I had been reading it myself I would have been skimming the pages .

Lost interest with three hours to go

Story was pretty pedestrian Tbh, with a few things that really didn't seem to add up.
Lost interest with the hours to go.
