Jon Ryan is irreverent, cocky, funny, and walks with a swagger. He says what he means, he says what he wants to, and, in fact, he says what needs to be said.
The cocky fighter pilot turned astronaut is also Earth's only chance for survival. The planet Jupiter, thrown off orbit, will destroy Earth in less than a century. Jon volunteers for the most ambitious, desperate mission ever conceived: His consciousness must be transferred into an experimental android host, where he'll live an immortal - and lonely - life. Jon's only companion on his 50-year voyage is his ship's irritable AI.
After successfully journeying for decades and locating a suitable human resettlement, Jon begins to discover the wonders life can hold, including the power of family and, for once, true peace. But no good deed, or good man, goes unpunished.
The US president wants him dead and is willing to sacrifice his own people to eliminate Jon. An alien species has vowed a holy war to eliminate all humans, either on Earth or wherever they might run. Only Jon can protect humans from their enemies.
With the best planet for colonization ruled by an ancient, malevolent species, there may be no hope for humans in a crowded galaxy. The limits of human technology may not be sufficient. The limits of Jon's endurance may not be enough. His endless enemies may prove to be unstoppable.
Jon may have forever, but does humanity have any future at all?

Not great but far from bad.
I just feel like a lot was skipped over. The narrator perfect. The characters where likable. The story could of been so much more. Parts could of been expanded and probably this one book could of turned into 3.

What an unexpected Find!
This book was a recommendation from an friend across the world, its a long story, nut an exciting one and im looking forward to any sequels I can find

An entertaining romp
Androids, mind transfer, destruction of the Earth by Jupiter, which has been dragged out of orbit by a rogue planet, megalomaniacal politicians, using discovered alien tech, hate consumed xenophobic fish people, cross species fertilisation, aliens with four eyes, semi-sentient furballs, hollowed asteroids serving as world ships, faster than light travel and a hero. Nothing new, but put together in a fun way, with terrific narration.

Hard to relate to the characters
while the plot is interesting the characters are hard to take seriously with some barely believable behaviour. if you're after very easy going star trek style soft sci-fi it might be worth a listen, but I found too many jarring moments that took me out of the story.

entertaining but main chatacter is a moron
quite frustraiting at times but generally entertaining. some situations easily avoidable with bettar tactics or application of ridiculously powerful tech. main character is so dumb it hurts, he cant see the blindingly obvious at times

Not your usual sci-fi
Personally I love the military captain of a ship type sci-fi, however this book is so well read and hilarious i was hooked from the beginning. The story isn’t my cup of tea but the characters are well written you get sucked in to their world of weirdness. Scott aiello does a fantastic job of narrating to the point I’m going to find other books he has done and listen to them regardless of genre.
Have a listen for a laugh,literally.

Incredible story, Aiello deserves an Oscar!
Craig Robertson’s The Forever series, narrated by Scott Aiello is as perfect as it gets. Premium sci-fi with humour, clever science play and a captivating storyline. Brilliant narration, Aiello is beyond good at capturing a huge variety of characters at Oscar level perfection. Highly recommend this series!

Book 1 Great, Book 2 Less So
Enjoyed the romp of book 1. It's cheerful and has some fun ideas. Book 2 sadly became too much for me - stereotypical unreconstructed male, and gendered role segregation: men with guns; women with babies; male loner scientists, and baddie aliens. I'd have appreciated women scientists, with babies And guns, and men enjoying the company of daughters as well as sons in all roles. That being said, it was amusing and upbeat with fun gadgets 😊.
