Every home has a story. Some are better left untold..
1967: Orphaned teenager Jeff Gentle offers a charismatic drifter refuge in his grand Georgian home in Newcastle. Before long, other freedom seekers join them, and a small commune is born. But as the months pass, the drifter’s influence deepens, and when devotion turns to control, Jeff finds himself trapped – not by peace and love, but by the dark, inescapable grip of a cult.
2023: More than fifty years later, Jeff still lives in the same house, now with his daughter Vivien, a property developer set to demolish and rebuild the nearby Valley Park Estate. But one fierce opponent stands in Vivien’s way: Binty Fletcher, a reclusive older woman who refuses to leave her home – a woman who knows more about Vivien’s father’s past than she should.
As Vivien digs deeper, long-hidden connections begin to surface, and it soon becomes clear that Binty Fletcher isn’t the only one keeping secrets…
The 1960s era of free love collides with the high-stakes world of modern property development in this dual-timeline psychological thriller that will leave you breathless.

This is the story about two women battling over a property, or so you would think in the beginning.
It is so much more.
It's an intricately woven novel about lies, betrayal and deceit that creates amazing intrigue and suspense.
It has 3 POVs that are all fantastically gripping, and the character development was 10/10.
I have to say sometimes I struggle with audiobooks not hooking me in and I'm very fussy with the narration but this was superb.
This gives Lisa Jewell energy, perfect for fans of hers and love a suspenseful mystery!
Wow what a story! I didn't want it to end!
