Joy Holiday traded small-town life for a fast-paced city career a lifetime ago. She never intended to return to the dusty mining town her estranged mother called home. But when she inherits her mom’s crumbling building, she’s forced to confront the past she thought she’d left behind. The dilapidated structure symbolizes memories Joy would rather bury, and she plans to demolish it and move on for good—so she hires the guy with the best reputation in town.

Charlie Hunnicutt is a hometown boy who has spent years painstakingly restoring each historic building brick by brick. Unbeknownst to Joy, the town’s passionate preservationist sees nothing but potential in the old structure. It’s a treasure, a piece of the town’s soul worth saving. So when Joy, with demolition on her mind, sweeps into town in her sleek BMW, it’s all Charlie can do to keep his cool.

What should be a straightforward business transaction quickly turns into a battle of wills as the two butt heads at every turn. But while they clash over the building’s fate, an undeniable attraction begins to grow between them.

As their connection deepens, Joy and Charlie are forced to face their conflicting visions and decide whether love can bridge the gap between their worlds. Where history clashes with the future, love might just be the blueprint.

For fans of enemies to lovers, reverse grumpy sunshine, and swoony golden retriever heroes, The Fixer is a heartwarming small-town romance with plenty of spice … and, of course, a guaranteed HEA.

Fate brought them together but danger, half truths and lack of trust can destroy a love a first sight. Hailey and Noah's first meeting sparked something inside but they need to fight for their relationship to succeed in quirky but charming Fall River. The audiobook with Amanda Stribling and Tor Thom makes the story even better. Thanks to EarCandy promos for the audiobook. This is my honest review

It is great to be back in G.K. Brady’s Fall River for another fabulous small-town romance and Hunnicutt brother, Charlie, the contractor who specializes in restorations. Joy Holiday left small-town life behind years ago and never looked back, but now she is in Falls River to settle her mother’s estate, thinking she’d just be there a few days, and how wrong she was. The building she inherited needs work, and while she’d love to demolish it and sell the property, prime real estate, because of ordinances she couldn’t. She needs to hire a company to get it up to grade, and she learns Charlie’s company is the best, though she was hesitant to trust him at first. Joy is anything but joyful, more like bossy and full of rage, so she and Charlie do not hit it off, but he is interested in the job and the site so he put up with her and gave as good as he got. I did not care for Joy at first, but she grew on me, even more so after hearing her backstory and realizing why she was the way she was. Charlie was a sweetheart, a fair businessperson, and the most eligible bachelor in town, who took himself off the market until her, the whirlwind of a woman named Joy. It was great watching their relationship grow and morph into something so much more, and seeing Joy’s transition too. Besides the romance storyline, there is drama going on with his business, which adds more depth to the story. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out with plenty of drama, angst, some mystery, profound emotions, and a slow-burn, but so worth the wait, steamy romance. The writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the complexity of the characters, their growth, and development. It was great seeing the characters from the first book again, too. G.K. Brady, thank you for another wonderfully enthralling and entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Victoria Connolly and Ryan Lee Dunlap are the ideal cast to bring the characters to life, giving each a voice that is fitting and believable. Both embodied their characters completely, grasping every facet of their personalities, with Dunlap nailing it as Charlie, playing an all-around great guy and a natural in his role. Connolly nails it as Joy, from her grumpy demeanor to her bossiness to her vulnerabilities, and growing along as her character grew. Both are fantastic at performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. Their expressive delivery conveys all the characters’ emotions, making you feel each one, and handles the back-and-forth banter effortlessly. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to, and their captivating performances keep you glued to the story and dialogue throughout.

I am really enjoying my visits to Fall River. These Hunnicutt men are irresistible! Joy has come back to Fall River to take care of her mother's home. An inheritance she really doesn't want to deal with, she is told she can't demolish and sell it due to town ordinances. Charlie is ready to do some renovations on this building and the two go into a bit of a business together. Their chemistry is strong to say the least. They don't like each other. Much. They have different visions and the bickering is strong until the the bickering is foreplay. Where does it all go? Well, let's just say in the beginning, Joy wasn't so joyful. She had attitude, but with a bit of getting to know her, Charlie softened to her. Charlie is calm and steady, ready to take on his task of the house and of loving her. But they live no where near each other, and will Joy be willing to move to the small town she was running from? Fun! Exciting! And I just love the small town feel. This family is one I am enjoying spending time with and now GK Brady has to bring me the next one!

Ryan Lee Dunlap and Victoria Connelly are the story tellers and I loved them together. Dunlap has that calm, even sound with a warmth that is perfect as Charlie. Connelly plays the emotionally driven Joy, exhausting and lovable as I got to know her. These two made this listen fly by with a feeling of love, community and passion.

Joy & Charlie!
