Summary
Two tough families—Two mysterious deaths—One night of brutal violence.
Nino and Elena dream of sharing a normal life together. They are desperate to escape the shadow of Nino’s domineering and dangerous family, the Bartells.
After a shocking revelation is made and a family member dies in strange circumstances, Elena urges Nino to take drastic action.
But some outsiders are drawn into the mix. Two best friends who have made a grave mistake, a no-nonsense financial adviser searching for his missing son, and a proud new mum. Soon, all of them will be caught up in a deadly world where betrayal, violence, and even cold-blooded murder are acceptable methods of settling scores.
Will anybody walk away unscathed?

So many well thought out, wonderful and colourful characters. This book gripped me from start to finish. I would love to see this as a tv drama series.

loved the narration Alan Turton
Elena and Nino, are two best friends who committed a murder, that was not to be. They want to get out of the criminal underworld. Ravi is looking for his missing son who has gotten himself involved in unsavoury characters.
This is a very dark crime thriller. Wow some of the characters are soo scary. This book has great twists. There are plenty of twists and turns in this, you will never ever get bored.

A very dark crime thriller
Elena and Nino want to get out of the criminal underworld. Two Best friends have committed a murder they didn't mean to commit. Ravi is looking for his missing son who has gotten himself involved in unsavoury characters.
This is a very dark crime thriller. I admit I found it a little slow in places but it didn't take away from the narrative. I was genuinely scared for several characters and constantly thinking about what will happen next. This novel had some great twists and I loved how it all comes together at the end; especially as several small storylines were running through this.

I tried so hard with this one but I just couldn’t get into it. It was hard to follow and didn’t hold my attention. I received a free copy and left my honest review

Just one word, WOW!
The Chillcott’s and the Bartell’s, two crime families, once allies, now not so much. Duncan and Carl, two friends who inadvertently run afoul of one of them, a father looking for his missing son, and a mysterious woman from the past weaving a thread of intrigue through this dark, riveting tale! A tale that kept me on the edge of my seat, oftentimes cringing in horror, yet completely enthralled, breathlessly thirsting for the next detail, the next betrayal, the next answer! I was so hooked! I could not stop listening! The characters, some quirky, some sympathetic, some outright deranged, others throughly deplorable, all so well defined and developed if you closed your eyes you could SEE them. The scene setting so brilliantly and beautifully detailed that a picture was drawn in my mind as I listened! The plot, beautifully complex giving all the information, past and present, necessary to throughly understand the story! I’m giving no plot details so as not to spoil the many twists, turn and surprises for future listeners, but know they were plentiful and eye opening! The narration was very special on this one. The dialects and emotions were spot on and the timing, both comedic and dramatic was perfection, truly breathing life into this fast moving fabulous story! This is my first time experiencing this author and narrator but it won’t be my last! Five fantastic stars! Amazing!
