Summary

The fourth and final audiobook in Robert Kirkman's New York Times best-selling series, The Walking Dead: Fall of the Governor, Part Two!

The Walking Dead series of original novels, set in the universe of Robert Kirkman's iconic comic, reaches its crescendo in The Fall of the Governor, Part Two. From coauthors Robert Kirkman, creator of the Eisner Award winning comic book and executive producer of AMC's blockbuster TV series, and Jay Bonansinga, Stoker award finalist and internationally acclaimed author, comes the gripping fourth and final novel in this richly woven literary saga, which began with The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor.

In Rise of the Governor, uber-villain Philip Blake journeyed from his humble beginnings directly into the dark heart of the zombie apocalypse, and became the self-proclaimed leader of a small town called Woodbury. In Book Two, The Road to Woodbury, an innocent traveler named Lilly Caul wound up in the terrifying thrall of Phillip Blake’s twisted, violent dictatorship within Woodbury’s ever tightening barricades.

In The Fall of the Governor, Part One, classic characters from both the comic and television series, including Rick, Michonne and Glenn, finally made their appearance in the Walking Dead novel series, only to discover that the Governor is a very dangerous enemy. Now, after a pulse-pounding series of events, the Governor and Rick face off one last time, and only one of them will be left standing...

Interesting story arc.

A good if slightly disappointing end to the Governor trilogy. Definitely worth a punt though.

The fall of the Governor

If you're a fan of The Walking Dead and ever wonder what the Governor's deal was then thus series is for you.
Set in the time same time frame as Rick's arrival to Woodbury hit told from the other perspective.
Well told and nice voice acting from the reader, Fred Burman.

A gripping story, great characters and a brilliant narrator. A few gruesome bits though!

Gripping stuff.

I’m a huge fan of TWD television series so these audiobooks were perfect for me since I drive for a living. All of the Governor (Philip Blake) books have been fascinating because they gave insight as to why the TV version of the Governor was so twisted.

A man that finally snaps after losing everything. He chains up his now zombie daughter in a pantry of sorts, whilst killing members of Woodbury and dismembering them and feeding the limbs to his zombie daughter. This is where the story differs from the TV series, but it was as equally gripping and just as well executed. Philip Blake goes from a man wanting to protect his daughter, to a small town dictator/murderer/rapist that’s driven by the voices in his head and an overwhelming urge for retribution.

I won’t give too much away, this review briefly touches on the whole Governor series of audiobooks as opposed to just this one. I would absolutely recommend these audiobooks, especially if you do a lot of long distance driving. I found myself prolonging slightly my journeys so I could find out what happens next!

Top and tailed

Top story with a satisfying ending. There is so much more that could be explored which is why the walking dead TV series is so good.
