Virtual reality based on real memories
The story is from the point of view of an FBI agent who has been widowed recently. She left the UK as a child and has returned to a small town where a killing spree took place - on the same day that a lone gunman acted out a mass murder in the USA. A coincidence? She's searching for links between the two. There are odd events, out of the blue, that take the mundane into a strange realm - momentarily - then to a quite dazzling climax. The ending is satisfying but I had to revisit the last chapter to fully appreciate what had happened. Priest doesn't do straight forward narratives but that's why I like his books. The audiobook is spoiled a bit by the American narrator's English accent, which were off-kilter.

The Extremes
I love all Christopher Priest’s books, this is one of the best. I’ve read it twice and listened to it once. I shall listen again. There is so much to understand it takes more than one reading. My favourite book was always The Glamour, but this book may even beat that.
Keep writing, Christopher! I will keep listening and reading your books over and over.

Okay
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Bit more clarification on plot would have helped.
What about Stephanie Cannon’s performance did you like?
Excellently read.
Any additional comments?
A Good book, but not great. Narration is the best thing about it.
