Summary

She’s always looking on the bright side....

Dawn Elisabeth Brightside has been running from her past for 22 years and two months, precisely.

So when she is offered a bed in St Jude’s Hostel for the Homeless, it means so much more than just a roof over her head.

But with St Jude’s threatened with closure, Dawn worries that everything is about to crumble around her all over again.

Perhaps, with a little help from her new friends, she can find a way to save this light in the darkness?

And maybe, just maybe, Dawn will finally have a place to call home....

Heartwarming read

Beautifully read, the story is so illustrative, you feel like you are there. Sprinkled with details, comedic moments and realistic reflections of real life. You see the inner workings of Dawns mind, for me strangely familiar in her idiocentric ways. A real eye opener to the struggles facing the homeless, you can’t help but want to reevaluate how fortunate you are.

Beautiful, heart-wrenching and uplifting

Totally recommend this book. Made me laugh and cry and hope that all the staff and residents of St Jude’s found their hopeful endings. What an amazing story and beautifully narrated.

A book I just could not put down

An awesome read...I love how the author has not clung to every piece of drama, but showed the true compassion it takes to see all people as good first and the love it takes to help unravel broken hearts. what a beautiful healing book, with laughter and tears.

Enjoyable & Easy Listening

A sweet story with an endearing & different type of heroine. Predictable feel good elements & a plot which takes an optimistic view of misfortune, mental health & homelessness.

good but a bit too... hopeful!

A little unrealistic but very sweet and a pleasant story. Dawn seems a lovely character. Well-written and an enjoyable performance.
