About this listen

The fourth edition of this best-selling, groundbreaking, information-packed guide for dads-to-be is now significantly updated, revised, and expanded.

We are expecting! The 20th anniversary edition of this thoroughly updated and revised parenting classic remains the most informative and reassuring book for expectant fathers everywhere. In addition to sharing the wisdom of the ages, Armin A. Brott, Mr. Dad, presents new insights into the emotional, financial, and physical - yes, physical - effects of impending parenthood on men. Thanks to this handy reference, moms-to-be will know their partners understand and support them during this anxious and exciting time, and that they have all the tools they need to be fantastic, hands-on dads.

This information-packed month-by-month guide incorporates the expertise of top practitioners in their fields, from obstetricians and birth-class instructors to psychologists and sociologists. It also draws from Brott's own experience as a father of three and from the real-world experiences of the thousands of dads he's interviewed. With the humor of New Yorker cartoons and Brott's gentle approach, The Expectant Father serves as a friendly and listenable companion for dads-to-be seeking confidence, guidance, and joy!

The book provides plenty of helpful advice for all expectant dads. However, in all technical aspects from finance, health insurance to shopping advice, it is very US centred and of little use for those outside the United States. I enjoyed listening to it in most parts, where the information was relevant to the UK or becoming a dad in general.

Very USA centred advice

A good general guide on what to expect during pregnancy. As a UK based reader, this book is full of US centric information, lots of reference to military Dad's, US medical procedures and options and financial references to US relevant schemes (college funds and 401ks etc) obviously it wasn't written for a UK audience and whilst the information is still relevant overall, you may find 25% of this book you wanna skip through

Great general information and guidance

Good listen some information for UK listeners not relevant such as insurance. Some really useful information of what to expect and a lot of common sense but still a good listen.

I enjoying listening to this audio book and honestly there is a lot to take away from it.

I wish it wasn't that much US centric but I guess it was written for the US market

Great general information

Good enough. It's full of useful information based upon academic research. It's a tad "America-centric" though, focusing a lot on medical costs (as a Spaniard, I don't know what that is) or "dads on military deployment".

Good enough
