Executioners don’t solve crimes; they punish those who commit them. Or, so Finn thought before apprenticed to one.

Poverty-stricken Finn Jagger would give anything to heal his ailing mother. With his father imprisoned, Finn has joined a thieving crew to earn the money he needs to save her. When the latest heist turns to disaster and lands him on death row, Finn’s future seems to be tied up with a noose. Until the king’s executioner claims him as an apprentice.

Finn soon learns an executioner has far more power and greater responsibility than he’d ever realized. As inquisitor and detective, he must find the truth behind each sentence he carries out. It’s a challenging job - but one that Finn is surprisingly good at.

As dangers mount, the discovery of magical dangers forces Finn to forge relationships with those who understand a greater truth to power in the world where he learns that an executioner has a greater role to play than he’d ever imagined.

The Executioner's Song is an epic fantasy series and is perfect for fans of Michael J. Sullivan, Brent Weeks, and James Islington.

Like the title says, this series definitely reminds me of Batman & Robin, with a hint of procedural drama in a medieval fantasy. I can totally see this being turned into a TV fantasy drama.

Medieval Batman & Robin fantasy

Not knowing what to expect from this author I was surprised how much I enjoyed this series. The characters were believable and captured your imagination whilst listening transporting you back in time. The narration was excellent with the many different voices. Have now purchased book four to see how Finn progresses upon his journey. Highly recommended.

Incredible series

There is some repetition of incidents but well within tolerances. Sympathetic characterisations well achieved. Enjoyable.

Well conceived universe. Read first three books and this helped my sustained understanding of plot and character development.

starts off ok but then u realise the main character is the stupidest guy alive . make daft decisions at every turn and when he gets the chance to turn things around and help his family he jeopardises it all for a bunch that most are clearly using him. bought all three but im out at book one. life's too short to read books about dumb people.

ok but annoying
