Life changing
I have just started practising the 6 intimacy skills but can already sense that it has totally changed my perspective on my marriage and filled me with hope and joy. I cannot recommend it enough and will make it my mission to self-improve and be a living testimony of the Lord Jesus through a happy and prosperous marriage. Who knows, I might become a coach one day…

Must read! If you’re humble!
Recommend to me from a counsellor, I’ve read many psychology books ect. This was the biggest mirror! (For marriage) Saw stuff I didn’t see as a problem before, stuff that was very damaging! To hear about what to change is one thing but to be shown how step by step was completely new! And soooo helpful!

Patronising
I didn't like this book in the slightest, I didn't find it empowering more patronising on women and how to basically roll over. I wanted to understand my husband better and why he treats me the way he does, but I am living with a narrsassist. if you think this book can help you it won't it will just push you deeper in an unhappy unhealthy relationship where you think everything is your fault.

What?
If you believe that ‘male culture’ and its values are sacrosanct, require unquestioning ‘respect’ , (respect not being so important to us women) and that your husband somehow should never come to realise that the 1950s are over, then this is for you. If your highest aspiration is having your nails done (or your hair) then this is for you. If you have an opinion of your own about the way your husband chooses to do anything at all - beware! You should not discuss problems with each other- marriage councillors have all got it wrong. Just apologise for your disrespectful attitude and get back to your proper female preoccupations. Oh - and be constantly available for ‘intimacy’ -its what we girlies are all desperately craving.

Frustrating Overall
Each chapter begins with comparing how marriage counselling won't help you, but the author's 6 intimacy skills will. I appreciate that marriage counselling didn't work for the author, but why jam it down our throat? It felt like we were being sold to the whole way through. That chapter about why husbands are better finances than wives is in antiquated and downright insulting, especially for our modern world. Women/Wives need to be encouraged to be financially empowered where both are contributing and having a say on how finances are managed, not encouraged to hand over the finances to their husbands so they have more time "for other things."
This book only frustrated me as the chapters went on, presenting with many outdated concepts that women have worked hard at overcoming. The whole premise of this book is to glorify your husband, all the while you becoming the pretty little wife who just "smiles and nods" and says, "Whatever you think, dear."
