Story
It’s been 120 years since the 50 or so worldships containing the few million survivors of the human species set off after the planet Earth was destroyed by a meteor. On the Worldship Humility, Sam, a 30-year-old Airlock Operative, is bored. Living in space should be exciting and full of adventure, except it isn’t, and he fills his time hacking 3-D movie posters and holographic adverts outside the stores in the retail zone. Petty thief Yasmine Emile Dufont is also from the WS Humility, but she is not bored....

Mars. The red planet. A new frontier for humanity: a civilisation where humans can live in peace, lord and master of all they survey. But this isn't Space City from those old science-fiction books. It's more like Hell City, built into and from a huge crater. There's a big silk canopy over it, feeding out atmosphere as we generate it, little by little, because we can't breathe the air here. I guess it's a perfect place to live, if you want to live on Mars. At some point I must have wanted to live on Mars, because here I am.

Summary
A fleet of 40 worldships carrying the last remnants of humanity on a mission of survival trying to find a new home...but what if a new planet were found - would it bring happiness and hope - or start a war that would rip the fleet apart?
Coming from the poverty-stricken Elfor settlement on the Humility, Master Thief Yasmine Dufont just wants a way off the stinking ship and to put a whole lot of distance between her and gangster ex-boyfriend, Dimitri. But when a dream score of credits goes disastrously wrong, she’s left on the run with a hidden code that everyone seems to want to get their hands on.
Addict Detective Zhang Woo will do anything for his next fix. Distracted by his insatiable needs, broken by the murder of his last lover, he knows he’s on a downward spiral but has no idea how to stop it, and even if he could recover the stolen navigational code his boss wants so badly, should he?
Breaking new stories has always been Kristi Carter’s passion - but there’s something not adding up about the report she’s currently covering. Digging deeper could have repercussions not just for her career but for her very life....

not as good as the first one and way too much sex
Story is a little weak, nothing happens really just endless talk of sex, sexual references, descending into some really dirty low stuff. Not what I am looking for in a sci-fi book. There websites for that sort of stuff, books are for story telling, plots, characters etc The first book was interesting, the second one is a drift into nothingness.

Not a great sequel, sex-obsessed and cringeworthy in places
I enjoyed the first book in this series as it had almost a childlike innocence. This sequel carries on where the previous story set off, with all the same characters, but seems to have lost that charm.
It is hard to recall any time in this book where any male and female characters are alone together and don’t have sex.
The violence seems to have changed from the first book too, with pretty much every major character fighting and killing others.
The plot turned out better than I had thought it would - I was on the verge of giving up on this book half way - and I enjoyed the ending apart from some needless murders.
If you were unsure whether you like the Worldship Humility, I’d say don’t bother with this one. If you really liked that first book (as I did) then give this one a go. Audible will give you your money/credit back if you decide you don’t like it and want to return it.

Worth the Wait
So looked forward to the next book in the Code Series, and I was not disappointed, it has been another high spirited adventure, or should I say romp. With copious amounts of hilarious humour, genuine humour which fends off the 'Fifty Shades of Detective Zhang along with the with the ridiculous amount of sexual encounters from nearly half the characters exhibiting uncontrollable desires. Thankfully, the book gets back on track and the mix of violence and anticipation kept the book flowing. This book has delved deeper into other characters in the first book other than Sam and Yasmin, the main protagonist in the first book. developing an engaging story as per The Worldship Humility.
And yet again Colin Morgan delivers superbly! His narration is like no other, with his ability to jump from character to character convincingly and flawlessly, delivering each scene with measured amounts of humour and intensity. Colin is a treasure to hear. Anticipating the next installment of the series and Colin Morgan's performance keenly

There are not enough words to say how amazing!
Another great book from RR Haywood. The writing is fantastic and I went through every single emotion known and possibly a few that aren't. The characters are so real, there's humour, sadness, anger, tenderness...just everything.
Colin Morgan is a master of voices. He gets it perfectly and I think I'm in love slightly 😍
It was the Best Day Ever when I started listening and I now feel bereft that's it's finished.

What an amazing listen!
The first book in this series is fantastic and I was afraid a second one wouldn’t be as good, I needn’t have worried! It’s outstanding!
The story rockets along, it’s one of those stories you just can’t put down. Mr Haywood really has excelled himself❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As for the narrator, Wow!!! What a virtuoso performance. It’s very hard to believe this is just one mans work! The many voices he uses totally fit the characters. Exceptional work Mr Morgan❤️❤️❤️❤️

Phenomenal
Let me be clear - I am a massive fan of R R Haywood work, the best living author in my opinion.. I used to look forward to each new Terry Pratchett book year on year, until he sadly passed leaving a huge void in many people's lives. Now it’s Mr Haywood that fills that gap and we'll deserves his increasing success into the mainstream.
Now to this book - and it's narration.. After the excellent first book in this new series, that I read not listened to on audible, my expectations were very high indeed for this new book.. at the opening words my heart dropped - a guy reading a story with such strong female characters- and with an Irish accent to boot? I almost turned it off before it ruined my own imagination of the characters. How utterly wrong I was. Colin is nothing short of astounding. A perfect match in sheer scope and depth to match the authors His range of character accents, his expression and mastery of switching from narration to character speech, his jumping from one character accent to another and another and another - just mind blowing.
The best thing I have ever heard on any media.

Meandering
*No spoilers*
It picks up right where they left off, but quickly loses the momentum from the previous book and everything gets kind of janky.
Everything slows down and the story gets dragged out. The main plot does not move on that much regarding the code, and this book is centered more around the conflict between the captain and vice-captain of the Humility, and the Elfor situation.
Some of my grievances:
Characters gets tangled up in side story stuff that seems to not serve much of a purpose other than keeping the characters around, and padding the story. Especially Detective Zhang Woo. Don't get me wrong, I like the character..but he does not really do much connected to the main plot here. He gets pulled into this other thing that takes a lot of time away from the main story.
I also need to express my annoyance of how's Sam's mindset changes at one point with little to no push from a clearly hostile source. Seemed like a very forced way to create conflict and turmoil in a way that is unearned.
Lastly it is silly how the main cast of characters keeps ending up in the same place at the same time by happenstance. Feels clunky.
So what's good? Well, you get to see a bit more of the fleet, and how things work there in contrast with the Humility.
IF you are a massive Woo fan you get way more of him, and his story.
The voice acting is still top notch, and you get a lot of great character moments.
Towards the end I was just looking forward to being finished with it so I could find something more exciting to read. It just keeps meandering towards an end you see coming. I might read the next book, but boy am I sceptical.

Good characters ruined by dull and silly storyline
Characters showed some development, and overall they are likeable and the dialogue between them is mostly entertaining and intrigueing so that's a plus.
However the story as a whole is extremely dull and generic. I am not going to add spoilers, but it did not feel like it added anything to the trilogy you couldn't summarise in 2 pages. I'm pretty sure you can skip this whole book and go to book 3.
There was a lot of filler here, like the writer does not have enough material for a trilogy,
The "hacking" in this book are probably the worst, most ludicrous events I've read in a long time. The writer was trying to make it sound so emotional, but it was just very very silly and were infuriating to listen to and really ruined the book.
Also the first half of the book was just unneccessarily pornographic.
With regards the performance, my only issue is the choice of voices. Everything was performed well but just the choice of voices was off, and Song's (i think its spelled that way, i just heard it) was just borderline racist.
Unless its on sale i am unlikely to be purchasing the 3rd book.

Spellbinding
I loved the first book in this series, but I enjoyed this one even more! The story continues exactly where the first book ended, but the adventure gets more and more exciting and convoluted.
Full disclosure - definitely for a mature audience - both in content & language.
I have no idea what the total character count is - but it is huge! Many of the characters from book one reappear, and there is a host of new ones introduced. Many times the story has us witnessing conversations between multiple people, and as a listener, you actually believe they are all separate individuals! It blows my mind that these unique voices, male and female, are all done by the same man!
RR Haywood's writing style is so engaging, but for me what makes this book outstanding is Colin Morgan's voice work. The book is a fabulous collaboration between a skilled author's imaginative storytelling, and a supremely talented narrator. Overall, a credit very well spent!

The first book was great, but this book is exponentially that much greater. By far the best development of any of the 100 audible books I’ve listened to in 2020. Funny AF too! Wow the narrator really outdid himself. You really have to appreciate his skill. To be able to go from slinging slang as yassie to completely deadpan with no accent as Chang.. I still find it hard to believe sometimes that these voices are all from one person. Great second book in the series! The author does such a great job building these different worlds. The combination of perfectly flawed characters and engaging dialogue, wrapped in an "edge of your seat" plot, deliver a deeper message of hope, love, and humanity's quest to belong.

Love the humor!
R R Haywood is so funny and a fantastic storyteller. The verbal slapstick is a hoot and the characters are very well developed! He makes you feel their delight, angst, fear, and everything in between. This is my third series listening to Haywood’s stories on audible and I can’t get enough....looking forward to the next episode of any of his worlds!

I like where this is going..
but this round could have used a little less of what felt like filler and a little more of the protagonists' detective work and social media antics. BUT, aside from me being an armchair book editor- I enjoy the characters and how they've slowly gone from 2D comic relief along the overall drama to additional depth and character development along the way. Far be it for me to critique story elements (I flushed as my 15 year old caught a moment and laughed at Lik Lik Suk, and this could be a (Sk)Cinemax miniseries) when there is a good plot and I like the unique take on generation ships.

Another Haywood classic!
This author’s ability to develop characters you love—and love to hate—is beyond compare. Never have I felt such emotion when a book ends. I’m instantly looking for more!
I didn’t think it was possible to love characters as much as I love those in Haywood’s series “The Undead”, but I do. I strongly recommend this Worldship Humility series as well!

GET AN EDITOR PLEASE
I loved the first book and generally love Haywood's writing. It seems like in this one he sat down and wrote for a year and just published it without any editing. It's WAY too long with many silly and continually repetitive scenes. I really tried to get through it since I loved the characters from the first book. Maybe he just couldn't figure out a way forward but I advise you to skip this one.
